I'm staying with family this weekend, so it's very likely I'll end up seeing the first games of the Premier League season. Unsure if I'll actually get sucked back into it, or if it has become simply too gay. It's pretty much now or never, I think.
They’re getting rid of taking the knee if that helps at all? Apparently there was a captains meeting and they decided to get rid of it. Some Championship teams have also said it’s run it’s course and won’t be doing it anymore. Whether or not EPL teams follow through is another matter altogether.

You got my hopes up for a minute there:

"Players will take the knee during the opening match round of the season, dedicated No Room for Racism match rounds in October and March, Boxing Day fixtures following the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Premier League matches on the final day of the season and The FA Cup and EFL Cup finals."

Somehow that sounds more retarded than just doing it every game. Maybe they're trying to ease their way out of it.

The whole 'joint bid' business is stupid. That'll be 4 countries given free qualification, there can't be much more space for South American teams to qualify normally. At most the joint bids should be 2
The USA, Canada, Mexico joint bid for the next world cup is stupid. Canada and Mexico hosting the world cup is pointless. The amount of options the US had for hosting games was way better than anything those 2 could provide

With matchday 1 about to start in Bundesliga today, I thought I'd leave some top 4 predictions.

EnglandSpainGermanyItaly
CityBarcelonaBayernMilan
LiverpoolMadridLeipzigRoma
SpursAtletico DortmundInter
ArsenalVillarealLeverkusenJuventus

No real hot takes here, just bored at work so I figured I'd make my predictions before all the leagues started.

Bayern up 2 in within the first 15.

Congratulations to Bayern Munich on their 22/23 Bundesliga title and 11 in a row!

Italy: 1+2 the clubs from Mailand, 3rd Juve, 4th AS Rome or Napoli

England: ManCity, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs

Germany: FC Bayern, Dortmund, Leipzig, Leverkusen

France: PSG, rest don't know

Spain: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, one of the two clubs from Sevilla

Super hot take: one Bundesliga club will be retarded enough to bring back Florian Kohfeldt as coach and it will be Hertha BSC

Wow, Frankfurt managed to score. 6-1 Bayern which will leave them top of the table unless some other team just collapses. Can we add a bet to see if Bayern will ever drop from that first position all year?

Arsenal with a solid 2-0 win to leave them top of the table for the only time this year

Palace without Gallagher is a night and day difference. Genuinely hope he gets a chance at Chelsea
If he doesn't, I bet Palace could make a play for him. Transfer Markt has his value at 27.5 mil so probably somewhere in the region of 40 mil

Also as an aside @Hüftpriester @Atomkrieg Frankfurts goal today was hilarious. Finally punished Neuer

Last season Bayern had the first match of Bundesliga against Gladbach and it ended 1:1. Gladbach ranked 10th in the end.
2020/21 Bayern slaughtered Schalke 04 8:0. Schalke got relegated.
2019/20 Bayern played against Hertha 2:2. Hertha ranked 10th in the end.

6:1 is close to a 8:0 loss 😟

I think Roma will end up surprising some people this season, they'll be the dark horse of Serie A.
They've done well in their signings this summer. Dybala, Wijnaldum and Celik plus Matic for depth. Not to mention they have Spinazzola coming back from injury and tbh I'm rooting for the guy to get back to top form. I wonder if Mourinho will keep this 3-4-2-1 formation, he seems to have the players to make it work.

But I'm gonna say Milan will win it again this year. They're building something with big potential over there with young players like Tonali and Leao. Now they've signed that kid from Brugge who I remember playing really well against city and psg in the champions league last year. We could be looking at Milan making Serie A relevant in Europe again this year.

I think Mourinho cooks up something for the League to win and Milan focus a little too much in Europe. Would love to see a 3 way race between Roma and Milan with Inter nipping at the heels

Germany: Bayern, Leipzig, Leverkusen, Gladbach

England: Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham

Italy: AC Milan, Inter, Juve, Roma

Spain: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla

France: PSG, Lille, Lyon, Marseille (I don't have a fucking clue about the French league tbh, lol)

In a IRL football discussion my hot-as-the-sun take for the coming season was: Nagelsmann will end up as Kovac 2.0, but Bayern will still win the title (because of course) under interim coach Jogi Löw.

My more realistic hot takes: Köln gets relegated (would be so typical when playing international), Dortmund will regret firing Rose.
