Damn Southgate would you look at that? It's almost as if playing fluid attacking football is what gets you goals, who would've thought?
He's too much of a pussy to try that against a quality team, not that I blame him. Can you imagine Maguire trying to defend a counter attack against a team like Brazil or France? lol

We avoided having to bomb the middle east again. But my god, getting a goal in the first half and then parking the bus is not a good strategy to win games. Fucked us over against Wales and nearly fucked us against Iran

Hulkamania is officially stronger than Allah. I remember the 1998 game so it was awesome to win this one. Berhalter is still a retard though, what is going on with Gio Reyna?

Well, burgers managed to get in.

I am still pissed off about Ecuador since both Senegal nad Ecuador were good guys and fun to watch.

Now, tomorrow. what I want: if argentina is out: excelent
Best scenario: arabia and mexico
Worst scenario: poland and argentina

If argie is btfo in either scenario it will be good either

Hard to play "fluid attacking football" when most teams play with 10 men behind the ball. England scoring from the free kick forced Wales to press and throw men forward leaving acres of space in behind, allowing their second and third goals.

I don't rate Southgate but saying that he doesn't try to play attacking football is bullshit.

And Pullisic is (likely) out. His good run and time in the spotlight has (likely) sadly come to an end.

In the case of Wales it was more due to mistakes at the back but a lot of the other games they could have benefited from increasing the tempo and pressure, especially when it came to teams like Hungary or maybe Italy.

Specifically I feel the flaw lies in the fact that he plays it safe way too often against teams with elite players and doesn't want to risk giving the ball away. Usually that's fine if the opposition is playing at a low intensity but with the way some of them tend to play at the back by standing still most of the time it just leads to frequent panic from the defenders.

Didn't see Orange Men vs Qatar but 2:0 looks like the Netherlands gave their B quad some playtime. At least I hope that's what happened bc given the names in their team they should have murdered Qatar. Or they got briefed to go easy on the Qataris to not embarrasse them further.

Senegal vs Ecuador was what I expected. It became wild after the 1:0. Both teams could have won and both would have deserved it. Still glad to see Senegal moving on bc I have a soft spot in my grumpy heart for African teams at WCs.

Overall the Netherlands didn't look as strong as many expected or hoped them to be throughout the group stage. Still 1st what everyone expected.

Same can be said about England. Everyone saw them to win this group and it happened but again, given what quality this squad has on paper they weren't that dominated. But one can argue that with Wales, Iran and the States they were going to face 3 teams that were going to park the bus and defend with 11 players. But that could be said about Netherlands and their group too so I don't know what to make out of this.

Behind England everything was possible although I saw Wales as the weakest team bc they depend so much on Bale. No Bale, no Wales. Simple as that. And it showed in their 2nd group match. Did Bale even had any ball contact there? Anyway, I just saw like 10-15min of Eng vs Wales in the first half and it was boring. So I switched back to USA vs Iran.

The US were better in the 1st half. But they were pretty lucky in the 2nd to not catch one and I'm pretty sure if Iran would have scored it would have ended 1:1.
Overall both would have deserved to move on and that the USA just are in bc of basically 1 goal shows how close it was.

The Netherlands should win the QF against USA. Overall I don't see the USA being able to compete with the Netherlands. Not only bc I see the Netherlands on a higher technical skill level individually but also bc they can be very dirty and physically if they have to.
So my tip is 2:1 Netherlands.

England vs Senegal could be a blast and a surprise. England should win but if someone would put both teams in some steel cage for some race war wrestling death match I would go all-in my money on the blacks. Just look at them.
I hope Senegal wins but I think England will move on. 1:0 for England or victory in penalties.

The Saudis really have a serious chance to move on tomorrow and how would have expected that before the WC? They still have their win against Argentina in their back and they weren't that bad against Poland. Also Mexico didn't really perform so far. Lame ass match against Argentina and a 5/10 performance against Lewandowski. That's not convincing. But I guess it will be a 0:0 or a 1:1 between the Saudis and Mexico while Argentina vs Poland will be either a draw too or Messi will win the game again for his team. Either way it would mean the Saudis would be out. All the Saudis need tomorrow is just one little goal more than Mexico. Just one. I'm rooting for the Saudis tomorrow.

France will beat Tunesia and I fear Australia vs Denmark will be another 0:0 bc 1.) Denmark, Australia and Tunesia together have scored 3 goals so far and 2.) Denmark has to win to move on while Australia only needs a draw. So it could be an exciting game but I'm not expecting much action.

Iran always chokes when it matters.
and Japan. I always root for these mfers and they always choke.

Ecuador not making it made me kinda mad but I am happy that my Iran prediction was wrong
I felt bad for Ecuador too, (I honestly feel bad every time I see the players and fans cry) but I have a soft spot for Senegal since the Russia cup.
