Just a small reminder:
in 2006 Germany vs Costa Rica in the playofs was 4:2, Germany ends getting 3rd place
In 2022 Germany vs Costa Rica 4:2, Germany goes back home.

And in a funny way just like 2018 Germany is btfo by Asians. Are Asians becoming the new German nemesis?
 
The germany x costa rica and spain x japan matches were everything that I wanted from yesterday, meme magic full throtle and the beast of possibilities showing its claws at every turn.

For a brief period, both germany and spain were out. I am thankful for being able to win the first two matches. We really need to be the first on our group to get an easier path to the finals.

Seriously, if we don't win it this year, forget winning it for quite some time. Everything conspires in our favor in a way that hasn't been seen since 2002.

I mean, good Lord, chances are that we'll face fucking South Korea in the R16. And the winner between Croatia and Japan in R8. How can we not beat any of them? And likely, barring yet another catastrophe, Argentina in the semis. If we don't shit the bed like we did in the 2021 Copa América finals, we can beat them just fine.

We really returned to the good ol' days where the NT was often our sole source of joy and hope. Let's hope it doesn't end in bitter tears.

I think there have been some individual groups that were just as exciting over the past few world cups but none have been this crazy over the course of almost all the groups. Probably some recency bias but I am glad this world cup wasn't as boring as 2010

We cant underestimate any team, I will only get peace after 3 goals differences as they play
