Chelsea's prevalence within the Premiership was defined by two very important factors beyond the obvious money influx. First and foremost, the core foundation of players used either came from the academy or neighbouring area/s that lived and died for the badge that they wore. The other thing to consider is that Chelsea maintained a consistent formation structure even when managers switched. This allowed for them to strictly invest into the positions that needed support. John Terry was THE CB and his partnership issues reduced upon the arrival of Ashley Cole to cover either RB or LB. Lampard was commanding with ease in CM; with clinical strikers coming and going at every other window as seen with Hasselbaink, Drogba, Torres and Eto. Cech got knee'd so hard in the head, he basically thought he was from London upon recovery.

Chelsea in it's current state are a lot like Monaco or QPR of the late 2010's. Ultimately throwing money at mercenaries and Football Manager tier "Wonderkids" that don't care at all about the team and failing academy prospects, shipping them out to rivals or aboard for next to nothing is about as bad as you can get. Without an impassioned and faithful foundation and a lack of vision in terms of what the team layout will be come next week, let alone next month is what has them in this mess... Chelsea will continue to choke. Which I think most of us will enjoy witnessing.

As for Newcastle? Despite the oil, the team has a very British core foundation and an intentional one at that too. 15 players within the first team are registered with British backgrounds. Compare that to those they challenged last season: City ( 7 ), Liverpool ( 5 ), Arsenal ( 7 ), United ( 9 ), Spurs ( 10 ) and Brighton ( 8 ).

Many of the lads playing together likely knew one another at youth level or have even played together at youth level in tournaments. Southgate stressed this prior to getting the England job and it's why he continues to play favs with those he oversaw at youth level. Howe knows this too. If he opts to nurture and capitalise on that rekindled connection between the boys, they'll remain faithful to him and his vison no matter the result. Plus Newcastle's sports washing direction has been a very international one, aiming to abuse the nationalistic mentality within the wider fanbase of football in the UK. "Well I don't like them Arabs but least it's our lads getting to play unlike at City. So If I had to pick one, it's Newcastle" and that's why they opt for Howe as the manager at hand. I assure you. Any other manager and you'd have no had such an obvious plan.
 
After reaming the crap out of Bolivia 5-1, people down here are once again flared up with our NT, saying this team will surely bring the Hexa home in 2026 and such.

We'll never learn a thing.

On the media scrum after the game Flick said he thinks he is the right coach for the team and they have done everything right to prepare for the game so I honestly don't know ... it's ... it's ... I don't know. I really don't know. Maybe FIFA and UEFA should kick us out of football to save us from ourselves and from any further embarrassment at this point.

You guys played Emre Can at defensive mid so Kimmich has to played right back. Thomas Muller is still part of your squad along with Havertz playing center forward. There are so many roster issues right now so I am not surprised you guys sucked. If you guys are going to play the German style 4-2-3-1, you need 2 outside backs who are going to just run all game, 2 better center backs than Sule and an older Rudiger, and a true center forward. I am guessing there are still a lot of Bayern influence, which will hold you guys back

Can is in no good form at the moment. In the 2nd of last season he was way better in Dortmund but it's either he is just in no good form at the moment or he could deliever the way he did bc Dortmund had Bellingham. Can looked really bad in all three Dortmund league games and now tonight.

Given what some players and Flick said before and after the match the plan for Kimmich was playing strictly defensive and only move forward when he has the ball but somehow nobody seemed to get the memo.

Havertz was completely shit and given his statements before the game this guy needs to seriously reflect himself. Like where was he tonight?
Also Füllkrug couldn't play bc he got injured. He's our only real striker at the moment and his 34 and only got moved to the national team last year. That's another basic issue: we have no real strikers anymore.

Schlotterbeck was shit and this wasn't the first time he fucked up big times. Since he moved to Dortmund he is making mistakes over mistakes that often get punished by the opponents scoring in the end.

Rüdiger may be old but he is important bc he is our only defender who plays physically. He's the only one whose body language is on point. Like I wouldn't want to play against him bc I would be afraid that he just bites off my head and we need these sort of players, especially in the defense.

A few weeks ago Flick said "no more experiments now" and what did he do tonight? Experimenting again. With our defense line. That is riddled by issues for quite some time now. How does he expect our defense to be stable when every single game a completely new defense starts?

Müller is more like joker. He's a locker room leader and a leader on the pitch but he's over his peak, old and his body simply can't keep up anymore. Still, we need him bc he barely have anyone coming close to be a leader.

And there are so many more issues. But the worst thing is all these issues are there for I don't know how long and so many people are pointing them out over and over and over again but nothing changes.

Flick should have stepped back after the WC, end of story. But they let Löw fuck up things over and over again so what can I expect.
It's the same old guys everywhere in the ranks of the DFB who can't let go from their positions and who suck each other dicks for over nearly two decades now. Most of these people are from southern/south-west Germany. There is so much nepotism going on and no new fresh blood coming inside. No no point of views on things. It's a clique holding the DFB and thus our national team hostage. I can't believe that I'm saying this but RB Leipzig has some really smart guys in their club. People who lead RB to one of the top 3 clubs within a decade. Even their ideas get completely squashed.

If Flick is stepping away, then a lot of other guys need to step away. I can't blame the manager entirely when your federation hasn't been able to recycle new players that are good. Either get a new formation or get new players while understanding its a new development period

And Flick is gone. Fired. Which came with no surprise after the post match interviews yesterday.
To be fair: he wasn't the issue, just one of many. So blaming him alone won't solve anything.

Now getting a new one will be fun. Because for some unknown reason the DFB refuses to get a foreign coach. It always must be a German one.

I feel that coaches are bit overrated anyway really, at least on international level. It's not like they work with the players to make them better, or really work with them at all, and international teams are usually a handful of decent players surrounded by shitters. The decent players decide whether or not you'll be successful. Or in England's case, there are about two teams' worth of decent players and Harry Maguire.

With that in mind, I can kinda understand the notion that it's a little embarrassing that you can't find someone from your own country to be the figurehead for the national football team. At least when you're a big football country like Germany. Half of the job is to be the face of the country in one of the biggest events in the world.

Its a players game, even more so at the national level. That's why Southgate seems to do well enough with a somewhat talented England team, yet he couldn't manage a championship side for shit. The firing of a manager seems like its either trying to please the players who have given up on the team, send a message that the FA wants different players selected, or are just scapegoating the problems the FA has with development of players
