Today, the Sudamericana final match will be held. It will pit Fortaleza from my hometown and Liga de Quito, a pretty good side from Ecuador.

You can use a knife to slice the tension in the air throughout my city. If you told me ten years ago that a team from here would reach an international final, I'd tell you to cut the crap and don't joke around because that would never ever happen. And there we are, finding myself actually rooting for the Lions (as Fortaleza is called here).

Today is Manuel Neuer's comeback in the goal of FC Bayern. Right now they are playing against Darmstadt ... and Kimmich from Bayern got a red card after not even 5 minutes. Welcome back, Manuel!

Edit: After 20 mins played Darmstadt decided to join the celebration and got a red card too.

2. Edit: Darmstadt decided one present isn't enough and got another red card. It's still a 0:0 tho. But seeing 3 red cards in one halftime is something very special and rarely ever happens here.

The game ended 8:0. 3 red cards in the 1st half, 8 goals in the 2nd. Wild.

Union Berlin lost again. They are now at 10 lost games in a row (7 in Bundesliga, 3 in Champions League). Union Berlin saw a red card too and nearly a 2nd red card in the very last few seconds bc one Union player double-punched a Bremen player.

After losing their goalscoring monster Guirassy last weekend Stuttgart lost 2:3 today. The guy who replaced Guirassy missed a penalty.

Boy did this game go crazy.

It's DFB cup time again and it was wild again.

Another upset happened when 4th tier club FC Homburg defeated 2nd tier club Fürth 2:1.
RB Leipzig, who won the last two years the cup, got kicked out by Wolfsburg.
10 days after Union Berlin lost to VfB Stuttgart in Bundesliga both clubs met again and Union Berlin lost. Again. They are now at 11 games lost in a row in all competitions together (BL, CL, cup).

Hamburger SV and Fortuna Düsseldorf, both playing in 2nd Bundesliga and fighting to get relegated to 1st Bundesliga, nearly got kicked out by 3rd tier club. Cologne (1st BuLi) got kicked out by Kaiserslautern (2nd BuLi).

2nd day of DFB cup and it got insane.

Bayer Leverkusen, currently leading the league, was close to getting kicked out by a 3rd tier team. In the end they won 5:2 but they only scored the 3:2 like 5 mins before the end and then the other team fell apart.

Freiburg, 8th in Bundesliga, lost to a 2nd tier club. Hertha BSC (2nd tier) kicked out Mainz (last in Bundesliga at the moment).

But the biggest upset just ended a few minutes ago. FC Bayern, record winning team with 20 DFB cup wins, lost to 3rd tier team FC Saarbrücken 1:2. Saarbrücken scored in the 95th minute the winning goal. Poor Harry Kane missed another trophy.

Infantino just confirmed on Instagram that the world cup 2034 will be held in Saudi Arabia.

I am curious as to why Australia dropped out and why no other countries put forth a bid. South America didn't bid for it, other Asian countries didn't bid for it. Was the bullshit of the 2030 world cup being held in South America for a quick second before going to 3 different countries in Europe and Africa too much?

Just to complete your results Freiburg lost 3:1 to Paderborn who are currently 12th in the 2nd Bundesliga. And Saarbrücken who just eliminated Bayern München are currently 15th in the 3rd Bundesliga. But as they say the cup has it's own rules

South American countries couldn't bid for 2034 bc "South America" "hosts" the WC in 2030.

FIFA gives the WC after a system of continental/confederational rotation. I don't know when they introduced that rule so I looked it up. Wiki says:

For 2034 only the Asian and Oceanian confederations were eligible as hosts. SA was not allowed bc they "host" the 2030 WC besides Europa and Africa. Because of that rotation policy and SA only hosting 3 matches of the WC the decision for 2030 stinks so much bc it open the door widely for Saudi Arabia.

Wiki says Australia dropped out/didn't bid for the WC in the end bc

Bascially:
- only two confederations were eligible for the 2034 WC
- in the end only Saudi Arabia made a bid bc all other possible hosts dropped out/never made a bid

Tin foil hat theory: I wouldn't be suprised if FIFA told Australia "Yeah, well, your stadions need to be upgraded. Here are our new standards" and the standards were surprisingly as in suspiciously high and it would have cost way too much for Australia to comply while FIFA set the standards way to high on purpose bc they knew Australia would drop out then.
Bc in the end of day FIFA is corrupt shithole organisation and we all know it.

Libertadores final is tonight, taking place at the Maracana. It's Boca against Fluminense and chimpouts are guaranteed. Fluminense ultras are literally getting armed with AK-47's and over 100,000 argies with no tickets are coming to Rio, presumably to fight them. Also, it's far too late to move the match to Spain or whatever.

Libertadores finals used to be two-legged, but a few years ago, CONMEBOL decided to be more like the Champions League and turned it into a single match.

I absolutely hate two-legged finals with a burning passion, but when your fans are THAT retarded, it's probably the right solution.

Funnily enough, Boca was part of the reason they scrapped the two legged tournament because they were playing River Plate. I have also seen tons of reports from Argentina talking about the fights already happening. Just hoping a minor war between Argentina and Brazil kicks off because of something stupid like this

To be fair to Boca, it was River Plate fans attacking the Boca bus that forced that final to be played in Spain.

Oh yeah it was the River Plate fans. Although having the last of the 2 legged finals between those 2 was destined to have something go wrong. Can't believe River fans decided to attack the bus though. They would have won the game in their own stadium but decided to be idiots and force most of their fans to watch them win the copa in Spain over their eternal rival

And Fluminense won. Despite their attempts at self-sabotaging, they still deserved the title better than those fuckers that came down here to fill the beaches with their filth and imitate monkeys in our faces.

I really don't understand why there are Brazilians who root for Argentina or any of their clubs.

Libertadores was great, I rooted for Boca but fuck this shit team.

Why would your root for people competing against your own team? If they lose it would be funnier to laugh at them than just their win.

Now fluminense finally got their liberta. I still cant believe that Internacional lost that way and it could've been us against that shitty boca to win our third.

Death to Coudet.
