Kane's heat map this year is all over the place, and there are times you wish he was lingering around in the box just a bit more
Literally every england fan

Prem is pretty spicy still, there's still a ton to play for. Liverpool's continued decline is still amazing, there's like 8 points between 8th and 18th and Arsenal are starting to get found out

I fully expect Arsenal to bottle it, tbh. Ees the history of the Arsenal.

Funny things are also happening in Turkey. 152 refs and over 3.700 players are under investigations for betting on football matches.

Update: 149 refs and assistant refs and over a thousand players including players from teams Süper Lig (including players from Galatasaray and Beshiktas) have been suspended so far. And the president of Süper Lig club Eyüpspor.

:story:

I will lol very hard if Man City should win the Prem again.

As much as I hate Arsenal and their fans it would be cathartic to see them win after bottling so many times, I'd prefer them to win more than shitty or the kopite menace. Calling it now post Christmas Sunderland are gonna do a 2016 Leicester, big 6 mass ritual suicides will follow and the world will finally know peace.

proper footy this, the turkish league is fun to read headlines of and they even have some decent talent playing

Gil Vicente has been up and going since last season. Their coach is really good at implementing the correct mindset, gave an hard time to all the big 3 last season. Famalicão has been putting up consistent matches for like 3 years now they have been peaking europe for a bit but they always choke it, one of the best academies excluding the big 3. Rio Ave is owned by that Greek forest idiot and he has destroyed the soul of that club. Sporting lost to Porto at home on the 3rd match this season then drew against a 2 decker bus Mourinho benfica at home. While Sporting conceded a 97 min penalty against Braga at home. If Porto for some reason keeps the steam as well as Sporting it will probably get down to the match at Porto’s home. But looking at Porto in Europe and their last matches (like the 32% possession at home vs Braga), they don’t seem as healthy as the start of the season. Sporting is getting consistent with like a 2.5 xG per game and has a better bench. Sporting just lost one of their strikers and Pote (the LW that’s been one of the backbones for the last 5 years) due to injury 6 weeks out and will probably miss the Lisbon Derby. It looks like it will be a open league for the rest of the season. Braga will bounce back to 4th I’d guess, their new coach used to be with Pep and they are implementing that possession football. Better at big games right now.
This is a very interesting back story I never would have realized. Do you think Gil Vicente and Braga can break into the Big 3 at any point?

You guys just want me to die, don't you? What have I done to deserve this?

This might be the only outcome that keeps me alive

I don’t think it’s realistic to think Braga could break into top 3 the money gap is huge between the big 3 to Braga. Their president keeps trying to say they’ll win the championship in 6 years max, but I think he’s delusional. Honestly their focus should be keep going to Europe league consistently and trying to breakthrough from there. I know they’ve tried that but with the new format the league is easier. Gil will 99% have a good season this year maybe break into conference league then bottle qualification and go back to a mid table position. Gaffers in Portugal rarely last more than a year, last season every 1st division gaffer was sacked or left the club, the blame the gaffer mimic is huge.

The NYC mayor being an Arsenal fan doesn't help my case, does it?
Him and adam friedland are so smug about being gooners, they act like knowing one of the biggest sports teams in the world is some esoteric knowledge. I think arsenal is so popular with those lot because it's seen as the "black" club, if they actually wanted to support a black club they should go for palace but we all know why they don't

My best friend is an Assna supporter who was almost an Everton supporter, which I wish he had been instead. I was a Chelsea supporter before the Prem and NBC cut their big deal to bring footy to a wider audience in America and even I felt like a faggot and dropped my support in 2015 after they sacked Mourinho cause I realized that my heart wasn't really innit (see what I did there, it's Bri-ish). Idk man, it just feels like an accessory to me, especially when sports fans born and raised in America have such deeply rooted ties to our franchises/clubs here at home. No hate on anybody who supports a football club overseas, genuinely (idc if someone supports an MLS club or not, they're a second-rate, bastardized version of the sport, fuck all of it), but it just doesn't feel real or right to me, it's hard to explain. I guess an example would be like seeing someone from Spain cheering for the Lakers or Yankees, it's obvious that you just cheer for who you think is the biggest deal in a country you have no ties to, in a sport that doesn't have any historical significance to you or your country.

Dunno, Palace have actually got a trophy recently

God these fuckers are just taking my culture. Some of us have been here since Henry was poached from Juventus and suffered through the 4th place trophy years. These fuckers probably don't even know good ebening

I always did wonder, how were you guys able to follow the sport back in those times, specifically European football? I remember watching a video on some American Swansea supporter years back who started supporting them in like the 2000's and couldn't wrap my head around that one. I got into it in 2012 and even then I felt late to the party but honestly didn't know how the hell I would have been able to follow before streams, TOTALLY LEGAL streams I was watching I might add. How the fuck could someone have followed it back in the 90's/early 00's? Magazines and vhs imports? lol. If it was on ESPN or wherever that shit passed me by, unfortunately.

I know from hear say that in the 00s you already had TOTALLY LEGAL satellite tv with channels from all over.

Ah fuck, I totally forgot about cable box tricks back in the day, They were tricks but TOTALLY LEGAL tricks. That would make sense, though. I was younger so I thought these (LEGAL) tricks were just to borrow channels like hbo and other shit that was locked behind colorful and staticky squiggly lines.

edit: wait, jokes aside did those satellite tv plans back in the day actually have international shit? like I said I was young in those days lol but it would make sense if that actually was the case. We had normal cable tv in my home.

edit 2: wow boys, MLS finally got their heads out of their asses, at least on this one front.

IIRC if you got a cracked box and your own satellite dish and have it in a good place you could get some international channels. I was a young buck too tho.
Does mls even have the conditions to do it in summer, do you still have the cooling breaks?I don’t really follow mls but the worlds were unwatchable as an European.

Pff, barking up the wrong tree asking me I pay zero attention to the MLS. If I had to guess, they probably do have cooling breaks which I agree, really takes away from the action, kills momentum, and comes off as pretty faggy tbh. Just wait til one of the divas rolls around the floor in agony after getting a light tap on their calf to have your little water break.
