Dortmund just lost 2:1 against Hoffenheim so basically FC Bayern are champions now.

Time for some near end of the season updates

In Poland, some form of a table is starting to develop with Lech Poznan being 3 points ahead of 2nd place with 5 games to go. Depending on how Arka Gdynia's game in hand goes, they may only need 1 more point to confirm safety this season  (For context, the gap between 1st place and relegation is 15 points right now with 5 games remaining).

France is basically over with PSG holding a 1 point lead and 2 more games in hand over Lens in second place. The real race comes in the form of European places. Lille have the group stage qualification but Lyon are 3 points back, Rennes are 4 points back, and Monaco are 5 points back, all with a game in hand. Marseille are also on 30 games played and are 2 points behind Lille. Lille and Marseille both have 4 games remaining while the others have 5 games remaining for the season. One of those teams will miss out on Europe with a second potentially missing out if Strasbourg catch up (Strasbourg have 2 games in hand on Marseille and are 9 points back from them).

In Italy, Napoli's loss to Lazio and Inter's win essentially give the title to Inter. With 5 games remaining and a 12 point gap, Inter need to gain 4 points to win. AC Milan could theoretically join the race with a win tomorrow but that just puts them tied on points with Napoli. As for European spots, Roma tied Atalanta keeping the distance from a European spot and no European spot at 4 points with 5 games to go. Juventus still hold the last Champions League spot with a 2 point lead over both Como and Roma and Juve will play Bologna tomorrow. Bologna are the only other potential team to enter the European spots being 10 points behind Roma for that last spot. A draw or loss would eliminate everyone else from European spots. Didn't talk about relegation with France because there isn't a race but in Italy, There looks to be a tight race between 2 clubs and one drop spot. Pisa and Verona look like they will be going down, only on 18 points with 6 games to go. Lecce and Cremonese are both on 27 points with Cremonese out of the drop zone due to having a 3 goal differential better than Lecce. Cagliari are 6 points clear of them but they are still uncomfortably close.

In Spain, the only fun of the title race is the potential for Barcelona to win their next 3 games and Real Madrid to win their next 3 games. Should that happen, Barcelona would have a chance to beat Real Madrid in the Camp Nou to win La Liga over their rivals. I know I am grasping at straws but Spain suck at running a competitive league. The 4 teams in Champions League are basically set with 4th place Atletico Madrid holding a 9 point lead over 5th place Real Betis with 5 games to go. Real Sociedad winning the Copa Del Rey in penalties, means they are qualified for the Europa League. This leaves Real Betis joining them in 5th with 46 points, Celta Vigo in the Conference League on 44 points, Getafe right behind them on 41 points, Osasuna on 39 points and a collection of Espanyol, Girona, and Bilbao on 38 points. For the relegation scrap, I would say only Oviedo look set to go down on 27 points, but they aren't completely out of it. Levante are on 29, Elche are on 32, Alaves are just safe on 33 points but then you have Sevilla and Mallorca on 34, and Valencia and Vallecano on 35 points (then you get into european chances). If it wasn't for the top 2-3 teams, La Liga would have been really interesting this year.

Germany is boring as ever with Bayern locking up the title essentially with 5 games left to play. They have Stuttgart tomorrow, who sit in the last Champions league spot with 56 points. Leipzig on 59 and Dortmund on 64 occupy the last of the Champions League spots. Hoffenheim on 54 and Leverkusen on 52 round out the remaining European spots. 4 games left and the next closest challenger is Frankfurt who are 10 points back of Leverkusen. As for the relegation, Wolfsburg's win and St Pauli's draw this weekend means that the gap between automatic relegation and playoff relegation slides to 2 points. Monchengladback sit 4 points above St Pauli with a game in hand.

In Portugal, things look all but settled. Porto have a 5 point lead over Sporting while Sporting have a game in hand. Benfica are in 3rd, 2 points behind Sporting but they have played one more game. Braga are way behind in 4th, 17 points behind Benfica. Sporting will play Benfica tomorrow and then Benfica will play Braga on the second to last match day which will be the only times the top 4 clubs will play each other this season. Benfica need to win tomorrow for a chance to be in the Champions League next season.

EFL Championship time. Coventry have confirmed promotion after they gained a 10 point lead over Millwall with 9 games remaining. However, they haven't confirmed winning the league. Ipswich have 2 games in hand and are 11 points behind Coventry, so they could technically win the league. Southampton, Middlesbrough, and Hull are the remaining teams in the playoff, with Middlesbrough falling off the hardest (they were challenging Coventry for the top spot a few weeks back). Just outside the playoff spots are Wrexham (2 points back) and Derby County (3 points back). With 3 games remaining, it should be exciting to see who gets that final spot. At the bottom of the league, Blackburna nd West Brom both picked up points leaving an increasing gap over Oxford United, who remain in the last relegation spot. The gap is now 5 points, although Oxford do have a game in hand over Blackburn. Leicester City are currently 8 points off of safety with 3 games remaining. Should Blackburn and West Brom pick up 2 points, they will confirm go down. Or if they lose on Tuesday to Hull City, who are fighting off challengers for the last playoff spot, then they will also be confirmed as relegated teams.

League One has confirmed the two teams promoted will be Cardiff City and Lincoln City. Lincoln need one more point to be confirmed as champions while Cardiff are safely up. Bolton, Bradford City, Stockport, and Stevenage hold the final playoff spots with Plymouth (2 points back) Luton Town (3 points back) and Huddersfield (4 points back) are challenging. For the relegated sides, Northampton Port Vale and Rotherham have all been confirmed relegated. Rotherham are now back to where they were 14 years ago, after they won promotion to League One. Since the 2013/14 season, Rotherham have won promotion 4 times, been relegated 5 times, and stayed in their league 4 times. The final spot (League One has 4 relegation spots) is currently occupied by Exeter City on 48 points while AFC Wimbledon are on 50 points and Peterborough, Burton, and Leyton Orient are on 51 points. Peterborough have 4 games to go, Burton have 3, and the rest all have 2 games remaining.

League Two have Bromley confirmed as promoted, but not wrapped up the league. MK Dons are 2 points behind Bromley while Cambridge United are 6 points back and have a game in hand. Salford City, Notts County, Swindon Town, and Chesterfield sit in the playoff spots while Grimsby Town are 2 points off the playoffs with a game in hand. Barnet seem the only other team who can potentially catch up being 3 points behind but they have an even amount of games as Chesterfield. The 2 relegation spots are currently occupied by Barrow and Harrogate Town on 36 points. Tranmere have a game in hand but they sit on 37 points with Newport County. Crawley Town have 38 points and everyone above them is confirmed safe. With mostly everyone having 2 games remaining, the relegation battle and playoff push looks to be the more interesting races in the EFL.

I do also want to point out one more interesting thing. In the National League (Or conference premier, I can't keep track of all its new names), Rochdale managed to beat Braintree Town in the final minutes. They were up 1-0 after 36 minutes and Braintree thought they had equalized in the 90th +1 minute but Rochdale scored with the last kick of the match in the 9th minute of stoppage. With this win, Rochdale (who were always comfortably in second) are now on 105 points. They are 2 points behind league leaders (winning the league is the only way to guarantee promotion) York City. And as luck would have it, Rochdale will host York City on the final game of the season next Saturday. A York City win or tie means York will go up and Rochdale will have to enter the playoffs. A Rochdale win will see them leapfrog York and push York City into the playoffs.

Just thought I would give you some other fun things to keep track of for the rest of the season instead of tracking as Arsenal choke away the league and a spot in the Champions League final (:_(

Germany is boring as ever

Not only is our title race broken but it has broken people's brains too bc every sports and news outlet is reporting that if Bayern just get a point today they are champions.

1776579245660.png

Just look at that and do the fucking match. Bayern has five games to go and Dortmund four so should Bayern lose today against Stuttgart Bayern still would have to lose all remaining four matches while Dortmund must win all of their four games AND CLOSE A FOURTY EIGHT GOAL GAP.

Nobody even mentions the fucking goal difference anymore. Which is even weirder bc just last weekend Bayern broke their own goal record of 102 goals from like a 100 years ago or so. But nope, bc technically there is a 0,000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance everybody keeps pretending that the title race is not over.

That's how broken everything is. People still pretending that Dortmund has a chance to become champions.

L
I am putting an unhealthy amount of money on a bet that Man City wins. If arsenal are going to break my heart, at least I will make some money on it
Let me know the result of your bet. Brighton cost me 1000 from fiver yesterday.

I don't think the league gives out the plate trophy on goal differential, unless it's match day 34. But your point is valid, the race is over now.

Regardless, Bayern have said they won't be doing the trophy celebration until their last home match against Cologne on MD34.

Wonder if Haaland gave Gabriel his shirt after the game, he spent half the match trying to tear it off

Glad it was more of a spectacle than the cup final at least

My hangover lasted til this morning :christine: Fucking Middlesbrough, fucking idiot referees man.

Being a Millers fan should carry a government health warning. Not only do they go up and down faster than a hooker on coke, they almost didn’t exist 20 years ago and nearly ended up with no ground to play at either. Absolute rollercoaster ride of a team. Fans who stick with a team like that deserve silverware more than the teams themselves.

Rochdale (who were always comfortably in second) are now on 105 points.
What the fuck are those points? Do they get ten points for a win down there or what?

(Just so it's on the record.)
🍾 Man City 2 - 1 Arsenal
Insert gif of Uncle Wodger doing a classic “FAILURE” here. What a kazoo parade.

@DSP's Tax Lawyer hope the payout was good at least
It was at least a good payout. I will now be using the rest of the season to bet on Man City winning so I can afford the drinking I will need to do when Arsenal get second in the league and finish as semi finalists again this year
What the fuck are those points? Do they get ten points for a win down there or what?
Both York and Rochdale have 33 wins lol. They play 46 games so it makes sense they have more points but 3rd place has 92 points, 6th place has 78 points and everyone else congregates around less than 1.5 points per game
