How would either of those make the league look bad, given the sheer scale of City's fuckery?

Time to collect some hats and trash cans.

The scandal does already make the Premiere League look bad because of the scale of City's fuckery. City systematically cheated for a decade -and that would assume they would have stopped cheating after the 2017/18 season- and nobody ever noticed which seems weird because City broke rules that were introduced after Chelsea went apeshit with their finances. No red flags were ever raised by what City has done. The whole cheating and investigation only started bc one Portuguese guy hacked the whole football and financial world and leaked it. That's where the bad look starts.

Given the sheer scale of Man City's fuckery here is what has to be the punishment at least:
- nullify all trophies City won in that time span
- kick City out of the top league and banish them in the 4th or 5th league or ever lower
- have them start the next ten seasons (at least) with a 10 point deduction every season (at least)
- force the sheiks out of the club (!)
- force City to pay reparations to other clubs (at least on national level)

The journo is wrong tho bc there is no fine line to walk. Man City as the club it is today needs to be absolutely destroyed and burned to the ground because the League set standards with other clubs and what City did goes waaaaaaaaaaay beyond that. If Man City doesn't get buttfucked dry and without lube the League looks weak but if they do destroy the club the reputational damage is also there bc they had to fucking destroy one of their flagship clubs. How would that not be a shitty look?

Remember Tour de France and Lance Armstrong? They are only recovering slowly. The financial blows the Tour took were massive.

Calciopoli was the beginning of the end of Serie A being a top league. More clubs were involved there but it also mostly only impacted what happened within the Italian league. City's fuckery goes beyond national borders. Champions League is more important financially today than it was back then during Calciopoli. City is also the flagship club of one of the biggest mulit-club-ownership groups today. What sort of fuckery happens in other clubs and other leagues that belong to this group?

The political ramifactions are much bigger than during Calciopoli bc again it mainly affected what happened within Italy. It already started with the English Prime Minister giving (stupid) statements about the situation. If the Abu Dhabis were this shady within the world of football how shady are all their deals in the city of Manchester? Companies from the Emirates put a lot of money into England. Companies that are all intertwined with the royal family of the Emirates which are also the owners of Man City.

Also the financial levels that we see here being involved in the Premier League are way beyond that of Calciopoli back then. We are talking about millions versus billions.

Not going to disagree with the punishments but here are some things you have to consider

-EPL and EFL are 2 separate entities. They would have to also agree to kicking City out of their league as well. The EPL can give City 150 point deduction this season (which makes playing them before and after the points deduction way different) and also give them 50 point deductions for the next 10 seasons they play in the EPL, but they can't issue any punishments to City once they go into the EFL.
-The Sheiks are the only way City can pay out reparations to other clubs. City by itself is not a rich club. All their money comes from the Shieks, we have 114 charges to prove that lol. I would love to have the Sheiks pay out fines starting from when they won trophies last year all the way back to when they beat Tony Pulis' Stoke City in the FA cup and kept 13th place Stoke from reaching Europe. But either City gets removed from the EPL with no reason to keep owning the club and the Sheiks leave, never to return, or they stay on because they think they can make this work again in 5-10 years. But kicking out the Sheiks and also getting City to pay reparations are just going to result in City folding as a club

I wonder what caused this?

Today, India played a friendly vs Uruguay. They lost 1-6, saar.
All it really highlights is how Brazil didn't give a single fuck when they beat India 4-0 the other day. Uruguay looked like they got told to wake the fuck up during halftime.

Also, oddly, I struggled to find official highlights for the 4-0. A fan did the needful and recorded highlights. You can hear what Indian fans sounded like as they chatted during the match.

Messi had its last day with Argentina in a farewell that, I must say, was sadly a empty one.

Before a homage could be displayed on the sky (made with drones), somehow they made a SanCor Seguros (an insurance market) ad. The people didn't react well (neither me when I was watching it lol).

As of now, the Wikipedia page of SanCor is getting bombed with shitpost and WhatsApp numbers.

So yeah snca but I wanted to archive a bit of this before it gets lost.

You may wonder why I post some random screenshot about some random Bundesliga match but two historic things happened today between Augsburg and FC Bayern.

1. Bayern scored 6 goals but 4 (!) were scrapped bc offside.
2. Augsburg managed to score to the fastest goal ever in Bundesliga. They scored the 1:0 after 8.4 seconds. Don't ask Manuel Neuer how it happened :story:

Yesterday, during a Série C promotion playoff match between Brusque and Paysandú at the former's home stadium, the designated area for the visitor team's fans was so rickety that it was literally shaking not only itself but also the camera tower.

(Video above starts at the moment the shakedown starts)

As the commentators pointed out, that particular area was hastily made as an extra expansion in 2024. Despite efforts from everyone involved to squeeze in the Paysandú fans into the closest, more secure section, it was way too small to pack them in, and the game had to be officially suspended at halftime.

Problem was, there was another playoff match from the same semi-final group - Ferroviária vs. Inter de Limeira, to be precise - that had to be played and started at the same time to follow protocols against result fixing. That match, too, had to be suspended after about an hour of indecision.
