While the store was shut down in August the entire infastructure is going to be removed next July. This means if you have a GFWL game it will refuse to launch since the authentication server will be shut down.
In response to this some games are getting patches to remove the authentication process, and some are removing it entirely. Bioshock 2 had an update today that completely removed the system entirely, and made it's multiplayer Steamworks compatible. People are expecting Rockstar to eventually do the same for GTA4.
People are curious about other games like Dark Souls, since it was made for GFWL because the developer didn't know how to port it properly. More importantly you will be unable to redeem digital copies and re-install games you bought over GFWL previously. Which means some games like Halo 2 for Vista will literally be impossible to play unless you pirate or hack it with a third party program.
