I'll start off.

No previous generation even comes close to the amount of sheer apathy and cynicism that I see displayed in Gen Z. You average zoomer could make a beatnik cry. They have no hopes, no ambitions, no dreams. Sure, some of them put up a facade of caring about social injustices, but I bet if you walked up to any teenager right now and asked them what they want to do with their life, the chances are they'll just shake their head and say "I don't know." They have no long-term goals because there's no point in planning for a future that doesn't exist. The entire world is crumbling around them, and they know it. This is only made worse by how shitty the education system is - even if they did have goals, they wouldn't know how to achieve them, because for some reason learning how many apples Timmy has is more important than knowing how to balance a check.

This ties into the whole transgender issue as well. In the 1981 film My Dinner With Andre, the title character says that "10 years from now people will pay $10,000 in cash to be castrated just in order to be affected by something." This is more or less what's happening right now - mass trooning out as a methods of escape. Digging beneath the surface, many of these supposed trannies have deep underlying mental issues not related to gender dysphoria. Lurking on online trans forums, many of them, in particular MTFs, were abused as children. Some of them are incels/"failed males" that transitioned as a last resort. It's so overwhelmingly clear that Big Pharma is talking advantage of these vulnerable youth, but unlike previously overdiagnosed "trendy" ilnesses like ADHD, you're not allowed to speak out against it because it's not politically correct (even though this shouldn't be considered a political issue in the first place). Even doctors are literally not allowed to refuse HRT patients, because that are at risk of losing their jobs and being sued for supposed transphobia. This leads to trenders like Keira Bell detransitioning and becoming TERFs or allies to them, causing damage to real trans people. It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

So yeah, post your thoughts/observations/rants about the burning dumpster file that is Generation Z here

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”

Yeah I know every previous generation says the younger generation is bad and everything, but this time they actually are that bad

I hate when people cite this.

It's trying to imply that somehow the model of progression is strictly downward throughout the timeline of the world, and that if it were that bad, then everything would be a rotting anarchic hellscape today. Did anyone consider that it can get better and worse over time? Civilizations collapse, nations enter hard times and that starts a cycle where things get better after.

So no, I never see how this quote is relevant to anything. This is one of those quotes that feels like critical thinking, but it isn't.

It was a shitpost, bro.

I guess my "spending more than 5 seconds copy-pasting the quote from Google"-take would be that I don't really see the same issues that @literal autist (and you yourself? Unless I read your reply wrong) see with the younger generations. Sure, many teenagers are going to be useless slackers at that point in their lives, but I also see plenty of them that are going out into the world and actually trying to make something of themselves too. And I've also seen plenty of the teenage slackers pull themselves together in their 20s and 30s. It's not all doom and gloom.

Are there problems—serious infrastructural problems—that we'll probably want to address before they spiral out of control? Certainly: I'd agree with you that we probably need to overhaul our education system, for one. But for the record, I don't think "mass tranny-fication" is one of those problems.

They're all fucked, a better quote would be

Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

Begun, the gamer wars have.

If teens and very young adults (don't the Zoomers start at 2000?) don't know what they want to do with their future, that kind of makes me happy. No one should have life planned out at eighteen. If they do, they're in for a rude awakening, because life always finds a way to fuck you in some way or the other. They aren't cynical. They're pragmatic.

Getting great grades in High School to get into a major in college that you hate is a twenty-five year regret of mine. Because everything has to be figured out by the time you come of age. If it isn't, you're lazy. That's a shit philosophy to spread to your children. Yes, hold them accountable, as adults, but don't be upset if they're cynics. The Zoomers are just GenX grown up in a recession.

socrates was a tool for thinking authority should be completely unquestioned in the first place

It's also a terrible quote because Athens pretty much imploded in his lifetime after managing to lose the Peloponnesian war due to their own autism (hey guise lets invade FUCKING SYRACUSE AT THE EXACT SAME TIME because the guy saying to do it is so handsome) then failed into a dictatorship imposed by the Spartan's briefly. After that they never really recovered before first Alexander's Empire then later the Romans filled the void.

tl;dr: He was unironicly correct about the absolute state of Athens at the time.

What's the age range for Zoomers?
About twenty years to just born, if generations are still going by the older increments. However, with the rapid proliferation of technology, generations seem to become shorter and shorter. It's quite possible that the Millennials only had fifteen years, because of the internet boom in the mid Nineties.

1997 is given as the earliest date, which makes sense as to why so many Early Zoomers are really just Late Millennials with a slightly later birthdate but everyone can agree that 2000-2012 onward are Zoomers.

If you were born during Clinton's second term, Obama's first term, or the Bush Jr. years, you're a Zoomer.

Zoomers are all generally cynical and blackpilled, sort of like Gen X except they actually have a reason to be cynical and aren't just being smug pretentious assholes.

But aside from that, they're a very internally divided generation with Early Zoomers being every bit as woke as Millennials, if not moreso and Late Zoomers being more based while Core Zoomers are split in the middle and often among gender lines.

Spoken like a true Zoomer, lol.

Also, why does all their music sound the same?
That's because pop music comes in waves. There are always popular themes in music. When something sells well, you bet record labels will try to recreate it over and over until the market is saturated.

Also because nobody buys entire albums anymore. Everything is streamed. As such there's no incentive for anyone to release the other tracks besides (what used to be the) singles, other tracks which might have in other times added some variety to an artist's oeuvre.
