I love animated movies & shows, especially old ones like The Secret of NIHM, The Critic. and Batman: The Animated Series. So I decide to make a general thread about such things.

Post, discuss or recommend animated movies/shows.

Greatest animated feature length film of all time: The Castle of Cagliostro. Animation is beautiful, absolutely stunning. Story structure is textbook. Lots of action that really draws you in and gets you invested in the story being told. Incredibly influential even if most people haven't heard of it. No discussion, end of story. Facts.

Royal Space Force: Wings of Honnêamise has animation and design so detailed it's genuinely frightening, like it boggles to mind to think it would even be possible for the movie to exist.

Look at this background for a sample.

does anyone except me remember a 3d/stop motion movie from the late 2000's called We Are the Strange?
its super obscure and the full 1080p upload of it on youtube only has around 60k views. its really sluggish but it makes up for it in pure atmosphere and stylistic direction. i highly recommend you check it out if you're into bizarre stylized animation.

Redline is fantastic. (The Space Warlord Nazi Trump is pretty funny considering it came out in 2009)

It's here on youtube but do yourself a favor and watch it in 4k on a massive TV, it's the creators 10 year Magnum Opus and the love is really visible.

The adventures of Tintin (2011) is an excellent film. Growing up, I remember being a big fan reading the old Tintin comics from my elementry school library and remember enjoying every minute of the film back when it was in theaters. I just watched the film again very recently and it was very fun good film, I like everything about it. The visuals not only hold up, but still look visually impressive to this day! A rare feat for a cgi animated film. It's a shame the film didn't preformed well at the box office and we never got a sequel.

I remember seeing this movie. It was very good with it's animation. Also, didn't it actually did good in the box office? I remember seeing a lot of positive reviews than negative.

I remember hearing that it didn't perform as well as expected in America. I know it did well in Europe. I know that most americans don't care about european comic characters so that may be it.

Starship Troopers (OVA)

I remember seeing this on YouTube and was pretty mixed about it. It has a great soundtrack and opening, the animation is pretty good, and is trying to be more close to the source material compared to the film by Paul Verhoeven. It has a very slow burn and focuses on character development that the action. The mechs are fucking awesome though.

You can watch it on YouTube here
