A few months ago Garand Thumb was on a Podcast (The Art and War Podcast to be specific) he has been on twice and on one of the episodes he discussed going to a fan event with Matt from Demo Ranch and that every fan there was between 5 and 10.

You most likely want a 9mm, polymer framed, striker fired handgun. Your body characteristics will determine what kind of 9mm, polymer framed, striker fired handgun will be best for you (some people can get away with Concealing a Glock 34 with a light and optic while others have to carry a stock Glock 26 in order to not make it obvious that they are carrying). After finding a 9mm, polymer framed, striker fired handgun you like, you should acquire a carry permit (not necessary if you live in a state with Constitutional Carry, 20 states have it and more are working on passing it) and get a Kydex (NOT Leather) Holster of either the Inside the Waistband or Outside the waistband variety. If you feel it necessary take a shooting course but definitely watch a lot of videos, read a lot of articles and invest in high quality defensive ammunition such as Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot. It is generally recommended that you carry with a weapon light (thus you will need a holster that can accommodate one) Also you should probably shoot a couple boxes of FMJ to get acquainted.

Now if you want a long gun exclusively for defensive purposes the answer is AR-15 with sling, optic and weapon light.
I've got a pretty big frame, but a small waist

New Guntuber arc when?

Invest in Hawaiian shirts and you could carry a Glock 17.
IMO the boogaloo bois ruined Hawaiian shirts, they just scream “I am carrying a gun right now”

Aloha nui loa from Hawai'i. The Aloha Shirt is a perennial fashion choice anywhere the temperature is over 75 degrees and the only way to wear one wrong is if it's tucked in under shorts. Anyone who says otherwise is a faggot, and possibly a māhū.

I guess it's not a lot but his last video he put a Holosun ontop an ACOG. Blasphemous.

I just don't fuck with Chinesium and I guess I'm an RMR fan
I miss the days of him reviewing quirky but cheap guns. Now it’s all NODs and NV aiming devices.

He seemed needlessly harsh in the assessment of this optic. Sure, its not a great option for flat range larping due to price and eyebox. However, AFAIK its one of the few ways to get all the functionality of an ACOG and red dot in a package that leaves extra rail space for lights and lasers, something I imagine its intended users would appreciate.

The obsessive weirdos still keep shitting on the RPG dude like they think they know what Ian thinks of the guy. God these people are insufferable.

What is up with the shipping policy on their site?
We cannot ship [Functional Electromagnetic Accelerators] to the following locations:

  • States: Delaware, Illinois, New Jersey, Rhode Island, District of Columbia
  • Counties: King County (WA)
  • Cities: Seaside (CA), Bridgeport (CT), Stratford (CT), New York (NY), Brooklyn (NY), Bronx (NY), Staten Island (NY), Queens (NY), Glen Oaks (NY), Floral Park (NY), Yonkers (NY), Buffalo (NY), Rochester (NY) Philadelphia (PA), York (PA)

Have there really been that many places that have already banned gauss rifles or are they just being overly cautious by avoiding areas with known corrupt prosecutors?

Read a few lines above what you quoted:
We consider all fully assembled coilguns and railguns (hereafter referred to as Functional Electromagnetic Accelerators or “FEA”) as air rifles for the purpose of determining legality in your home location.
(...)
There are areas to which Arcflash Labs, LLC cannot ship FEA. Certain states and municipalities have established certain limitations with respect to air rifles, and Arcflash Labs, LLC reserves the right not to ship particular products to certain locations.

These things are somehow considered "air rifles" and a few places have banned those through the years.

Also, the ArcFlash guys are probably walking on eggshells since there is no mechanical way to guarantee one of their devices can't be fired in full-auto. If they ever become popular or get noticed by the wrong politician, expect a big push to ban or restrict the sale of their coilguns and kits.

Since it caught my eye I looked through the York, PA code to see what might be objectionable, nothing. So the latter maybe?

Especially since PA has preemption. That's been proven out by case law - by an autistic furry no less.

ETA: Oh yeah they're weird about pellet guns there. Kind of like MI, where you had to buy them from an FFL (no 4473 or anything, just buy from an FFL) until like ten years ago.

Speaking of Gauss cannons. This is one of the only Demolition Ranch videos I actually watched the majority of. At 6:00 GT shows off a burst. Seems like it would be a pretty great crowd control weapon.

At the moment it looks like scaling gauss cannon down to realistic/usable dimensions, sacrifices a lot of performance. The Arcflash anvil weighs 20lbs.

if they are considered airguns i dont think full auto would be illegal.
