General GunTuber thread

I think Paul is brand-conscious enough to understand the kind of persona he gives off and may be tempted to play it up. Shooting guns he hates could become his analog to cans.wav.
I hope he doesn't go off the deep end, I enjoyed having at least one guntuber that played it straight and consistently provided useful information.

You guys need to stop with this weird speculation about these guys. First with Ian and the influx of modern guns and how he was "running dry" when the latest video proves he has more resources to procure more materials of the kind you guys like for content. Then now with Paul Harrell and how he's gonna be like all the other guntubers. If I may engage in the same sort of speculation you do, I think he's going to post another video in response to the outcry of this. He's then gonna have to go and talk about why he made the decision to destroy the rifle and why he couldn't just leave it be. When I watch his other responses, I wonder why the people were being so stupid. Now I see why he has to do that.

The belief that you MUST set the record straight on any trivial detail is peak lolcow mentality. Lolcowdom is defined by the unwillingness to accept that the perceptions of others will deviate from what you would like those perceptions to be.

Also...a quick update on James Yeager. Still dying. Did the Ukraine trip ever happen?

Or his complete spergout over CoD memes with the pistol switching vid. The dude's clearly either got autism or doesn't get the internet.
Probably both to be honest. I love the guy, but he doesn't really give off the "hip with the kids" vibe.

The autism is self-evident, its one of the reasons why we like him in the first place.

He may not get the internet or be "normal" but he's the only guntuber with a certified kill count. This is why he'll never do a colab with another guntuber, it'd be five minutes before he realized someone like Demo Ranch or Brandon Herrara were CRITICAL FAILURES and would turn them into his newest Meat Targets.

I like his informative autism. When it turns into "old man shaking fist at cloud" autism, it gets boring. There's a dearth of youtubers producing the kind of content he specializes in (comparative chronograph and accuracy testing, penetration testing against simulated targets without relying entirely on ballistics gel, etc), but plenty of morons with inflated egos insisting they're right about everything. If Paul transitions from the former to the latter because of temper tantrums like that one, it would be a damn shame.

Would he be that wrong?

I'm reminded a bit of AvE, whose tool autism was great for me until he did a tool review where he used the fucking thing wrong, it fucked up, he declared it shit, then dedicated a small segment of his next video to telling the people who told him what he did wrong that they were shit and you cannot match his 'life on the rigs' given knowledge. That shit lost me instantly. Paul's not there yet just because he shot up a Turkroach 10/22 clone due to irons autism but it's gettin' there.

What tool was that? AvE is usually pretty good natured and based so im surprised

He did. I think he was applying the same training methods he uses in the US which consume hundreds of rounds. This was during a time when foreign volunteers were saying they were being sent to the front with a few mags that weren't even topped off. And perhaps he was considered too much of a liability because of his deteriorating physical condition after his training methods became untenable. I do believe he had aspirations to die in battle regardless.

I believe it was the milwaukee cordless grease gun
I hadn't seen that one, I'll have to look.
I think it was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYLS8OZ98Z8

He gets a tool, takes it apart, puts it back together fucking it up, tests it, it doesn't fuckin' work right, must be fucking garbage, eh, not like my skookum high-buck brands! People in comments are divided between "I have one and it works way better than that, maybe you fucked it up" and "LOLOLOL SKOOKUM CHOOCH MAN BEST VEE-JAY-OH MAKER". As seen in this or the Biolite stove review, if he can't pry a thing open, torture test the components, slap it back together and have it work perfectly it is junk and there is no talkin' about it. He has an overriding need for tool servicability, which is a fine thing to have in this 'disposable age', but he lets it completely cloud his judgment. "It'll get ya kilt on the rig because you gotta have something that'll last forever and you can fix it with a sledge and chisel" is fine but declaring a thing nonfunctional because you fucked it up is dumb.

I don't think this is probably true, or should really even be a qualifier. No one who's actually killed people really points to that as an example of their "superiority" in a subject, and you have to consider we've had 20 years of war so there's no shortage of people in the country with notches in their guns, so to speak. Granted, Combat Arms is a really small field compared to everything else you need to keep a military running but killing another person isn't exactly a rare thing.

I could say I've been in X situation more than you have probably, I wouldn't say that makes me an expert on it. For all I know, you've had more insights or more valuable opinions on Y thing than me. I sperg about some shit I know, mainly in the interest of accurate information for people but I'd hardly call myself an expert. I don't think it's fair to assume Harrell would be the kind of jackass to not work with another just because he was forced into a defensive situation once or twice.

why are they all smiling in this? Someone you know is dying of a terminal illness and you're all happy go lucky in this? wtf
