General GunTuber thread

I still remember him as the South Carolina cop who went minorly viral when he took pictures with a cat. After his move to Texas I forgot he existed until he started popping up in other people's videos.

GT's two retard friends were the downfall of the channel for me. Micah is particularly annoying and I tune out whenever he's on screen. Looking back I enjoy his old video formula of [shooting montage->intro/sponsorship segment->up close explanation of gun/gear and his opinions(short shooting clips mixed in)->'remember to get out and shoot']. Similar situation with Administration Results' new vs old videos. They took queues from eachother and now I don't go out of my way to watch either of them unless I'm already interested in the subject. GT is too casual and Admin is too heavily edited.
While I like Admin's influence on GT and how it's made GT's videos better, a big part of me thinks that Admin made a huge mistake unmasking.

Without the mask and the mystique it gave him, he's become more and more just another generic guntuber. His larp sequences have gone downhill (and this happened around the time that Lou Sassell went MIA). The mask gave him a mystique and an aura of mystery to him and his daddy dom energy has been waning for a bit in how he presents himself.

Garand Thumb tries, once again, to justify the existence of the Army's new SIG rifle by showing off one that has 4" of barrel sawed off assumedly for use by doorkickers.
To his credit, he channeled some GT of the past in this episode although it was marred by his gay zoomer friend as well as heavy "woah that's crazy"-tier shilling.

Allegedly the charging handle carved out of the side was for "snipers" to charge the rifle in the prone position, see 15:40
This makes as much sense as a sawed off dragunov...

The ejection pattern is a bit erratic.
I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, I've seen perfectly reliable 1918 BARs have silly ejection patterns.

Can we talk about how /k/ has become a tranny run shithole?
/k/ has not been good for 12 years, the current pests just muscled out the previous ones.

I recall seeing some NGSW simp exclaiming that they got rid of that, but apparently they did not. The XM7 continues to baffle.

If I was a conspiracy tard. And believed the most unlikely conspiracy, that someone in the DOD is smart. I would think that the reason to have the .277 Bubba's Pissing Hot Load is to make it so the project can never actually succeed. Eventually someone will step up and point out that ammo production is insufficient, it will cost too much money to make it and the army is drowning in 5.56, something so basic even Congress could tell them. Similar to the ACR program but this time with guaranteed failure. This way you get the companies designing stuff you want and after the program is done you add it to the M4 like the ACOG. Since if you have a ballistic computer on your gun that even a solider can use, why would you give a fuck about ballistic performance. At most the new caliber will be something like Lapua Magnum where it's only adopted by competent enough retards and in small enough numbers to not fuck up logistics.
Don’t worry cause even congress thinks it’s a good idea. They funded Winchester to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars ( can’t remember exactly, think it is about $300M) to build a whole new plant at Lake City to manufacture the stupid Sig round.

As a side note, of all three submissions the Sig design was the worst. It’s an all metal case which caused it to be the heaviest. The Textron/Winchester round was basically a shotgun shell in steroids but it was a cased telescoped round and saved weight and material there. The True Velocity round was in my opinion the best ammo design. It was a conventional style round to make the fudds in the pentagon feel happy but offset the weight increase by making most of the case out of plastic.

The other problem has been touched on before. The whole project is a solution to army R&D. The army developed a lead free round that will penetrate level 4 plates at 300 yards without using tungsten cores. HOWEVER, this new wonder bullet requires a minimum muzzle velocity to be effective. The the DoD solution of course is to decide to hold a competition to design a loaded round to fire this bullet at the required velocities and also get a new fangled gun at the same time.

The true velocity option was probably the best ammo but the sig gun was the best. Back when the army had a spine and wasn’t beholden to the MIC, they would have told Sig to go back and design the gun to fire the TV ammo. Instead we ended up with a the worst option for ammo in terms of manufacturability and weight.

TLDR: .277 furry is a solution in search of a problem and a testament to SiGs marketing.

I still don't understand why they're using a bi-metal case. Why not just make the case entirely out of steel?

The problem is the higher peak pressures require stainless steel at the head. However stainless steel is much less ductile with gives you a dual problem of being harder to get to seal to the chamber walls allowing hot gasses to contact the chamber walls. Then once firing is completed it is much harder to extract the spent casing. In addition the stainless steel being that much harder metal will abrade the chamber walls much faster then brass.

There are other reasons but there is a reason the brass cases have been around for 150 years.

The thing about Donut is that he's been a Police focused youtuber for 7 years but was only a cop for 3, so I think at this point He's basically ran out of experience to pull from. None of Donut's current content relies on him being a ex-cop, its all just glorified reaction content with "funny" duck sounds censoring gunshots and random cuts to movie clips.
It fucks me up that 12 years ago wasn't some time in the late 2000s but is, in fact, 2012.

Wasn't that it's self caused by the Russians having a body armor contest of their own in which one of the armor sets was gonna be this really cheap and effective level 4+ armor? That set also lost and hasn't been adopted.

anyone who feels the need to wear a secret squirrel mask as if they're a secret agent and yet does youtube videos is uber gay

To be fair, it also added to his selling point; the masked daddy dom everyone wanted to fuck.

Also, speaking of which, Admin did a behind the scenes video for his second channel on the WW2 video the IP2 Guntube gang made. Has him and Garand Thumb going full hoyay and making Saving Private Ryan jokes, some nice bits with King Trout (who's real name Connor is once again spoken out loud and we get to see him film his Nazi SS character), and a clip of Donut looking longingly at a photo of Hitler in a locket that is sure to trigger a lot of people on the left.
