This is prevalent in all online communities. I think most people only spend time in one major hobby online, but sewing groups, cooking groups, etc are all filled with the same stuff. Maybe a little bit more in guns because its so male dominated.

Brandon managed to narrow the race down to only 407 votes, but Tony still managed to win. I don't know enough about election law to know if the fact the votes were so close can trigger a recount or anything, but if they can't then at the very least Brandon managed to nearly dethrone a incumbent candidate in his first try at politics.

May not have won, but this is still a victory in my book. Everyone is talking about the disproportional amount of money spent, but the real deal is now that Tony and his policy choices have been made well known to the public, and that thin vote margin proves it. People are pissed with Tony regardless and I would hope people will take any and every opportunity they can against him so that Tony is always on the hot seat and can't just go against his own party's interests all willy nilly.

You know what, fair fucking play to him.

I'm not American so I don't know all that much about how elections work there besides the Presidential, but I've always maintained in general that if you're not happy with how things are then you should do something about it. Brandon put his money where his mouth was and considering he was about as much of an outside candidate as one could be, he got a very respectable result there.
