General GunTuber thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
The latest episode of the C&Rsenal reloaded podcast was pretty funny. Othais detailed his problems managing the Discord channel
That's pretty much the end for sponsored guntube, then. Many channels run the risk of having most of their videos removed. Can't be sponsored by Brownells, Primary Arms, ammo companies, TNVC, etc. If they can't be sponsored by anyone selling firearms accessories, this cuts out any sponsor who isn't a mobile game, VPN, debt management company, or diploma mill specializing in gunsmithing. Even Olight shills could be fucked, because Olight sells weapon lights, which are technically "firearms accessories." It will be interesting to see how YT applies this new rule.

Why weren't guntubers freaking out about this new rule? Was this rule even announced as part of the new set of rule changes announced back before June 18th? I don't recall anyone mentioning this.
They must have known this was coming? and yet they still haven't managed to pick a viable alternative platform to mass migrate to.Ian McCollum is on his 5th or 6th YouTube alternative, all because some fucking salesman from a barely funded startup sold him a line. It's fucking Rumble... It can only be fucking rumble.

Tech youtuber and right to repair advocate Louis Rossman released a video. This will draw a lot of eyes that probably wouldn't hear about this. A quote from the video:
I am a supporter of the second amendment, I think it is unfortunate that your rights in certain parts of the country have been infringed in regards to that matter, and I think if anything, we don't need less content on responsible firearm use and ownership, we need more content on responsible firearm use and ownership

I still feel like Ian betting on losing horses in terms of YouTube alternatives is still better than massive channels like Hickok's just staunchly refusing to stop letting YouTube fuck them in the ass. Rumble seems like the only viable alternative right now, but a few years Odyssey looked really promising until the SEC screwed them over because their entire technology stack was built on cryptocurrency, and a few years before that BitChute might have seemed like a viable alternative if you were optimistic and seriously believed that a company headquartered in Britain could become a viable free speech platform...

Aren't pretty much all his videos sponsored by a firearm store or similar? So his entire channel is just supposed to be removed? Lunacy.
My understanding is the rule only applies to the text of the video title and description, aka you can't mention your sponsor in the description or link to them.

Can you download shit off pepperbox? Either directly or via extension on your browser? That would be a deal breaker for me.....
Theres a download button on the mobile app however I can't find the function on the website. Now the possibility exists that I'm just overlooking the button not sure.

If so, it's not that bad. YouTube had banned direct links to web pages that sell firearms years ago IIRC. It's like 8 years or something when Ian stopped posting the links to the specific firearms at auctions, and he cited YouTube rules as the reason. So if they now just expand it to the whole company site, I don't know how big of a deal it is. You can still say who you are sponsored by in the videos.

I wonder when will we get a GUNT-uber thread. :gunt:

A shame Hickok45 not seeking greener pastures. His content was the one that basically opened up for me to go for other GunTubers. IraqVeteran8888 was there too, yet it has been a while since I watched any video.

Hickok45 says they spoke with their Google rep today. John sums it up as due to a change in YT policy on June 18th, they can no longer upload videos that have a sponsor that is a firearm company or deals in firearm accessories because they are in violation of YT policy. He says that anything posted beyond June 18th in violation can result in your channel being terminated. Anything posted before June 18th with those type of sponsors can result in the video being removed.

Youtube makes no sense in its policies at all, Scam ads are running rampant, even sponsorships are scams like Betterhelp but will YT do anything? No because the people running the site only care about what the media can scaremonger about and right now its guns. If Youtube keeps adding more and more restrictive rules like this then what's the point of making youtube a job
