I've have serious problems with School of the American Rifle. While I want to see the intricacies of the defects in an entry-level AR-15 and use of all gauges. I don't want it blasting only in my left ear for 6 hours straight, with another 6 more videos of similar length. Especially with the volume levels being inconsistent.

It's bizarre how many YouTubers won't just buy a wireless mic or two and connect the receiver to their camera/phone so they can move around the area they're filming in while still having nice, clear audio no matter what they're doing.

My main issue with him is he is a bit of a boomer fudd. He won't expand his channel to other platforms to show assembly and spreads some fudd lore. For example his discussion about his clean kit was example of him not understanding material hardness and thinks brass can scratch steel or chrome. If you can use nylon then go for it but a brass brush isn't going to wreck your barrel.

Guntubers who complain about Youtube's moderation policies but refuse to expand to Rumble and Odysee are getting what they deserve. How much effort does it take to upload and maintain an alternative channel? It's lazy victim mentality behavior and Youtube won't change their ways unless creators and users move to other platforms.

It wasn't that he pissed off the WWSD manufacturer; WWSD is made by Cinnabon's company. Karl pissed off Brownells so Brownells stopped selling the WWSD due to Karl's Christmas day rants on ARFCOM, a Brownells owned forum. By Christmas day rants I mean Karl logged in at 8 AM Arizona time on Christmas morning to argue with ARFCOM users several days after he said he wasn't going to post on ARFCOM anymore. He fucked KEarms over and by extension Ian and the rest of the WWSD investors because they lost a major retailer with international sales. Cinnabon backed Karl despite the issue this caused his company and they later had to offload inventory at very low prices due to being unable to sell to Brownells. I almost bought a WWSD lower because of how cheap they were.

If I were a 50-something year old man with a knock off Leon Kennedy RE2 haircut getting in online arguments on Christmas on a webforum, I would grab the closest gun next to me and blow my brains out.

Only actual genuine reason ive seen people dislike Ian over is the Rock Island Auction thing IF its real(supposedly got his famas by cutting out the auction and went straight to the seller, got his seller info from RIA).

I'm curious as to why people think this happened. It'd be a dumb thing to do -- given how heavily Ian was relying on them for content in the early days. It'd cut your access to the auction guns off immediately if they found out about it. I hear they charge sellers as much as 25% commission and then add a 17.5% buyers premium. What's that, close to $400 on a $1000 gun? I can see why the buyer would go for it. But I assume they'd be furious at a collaborator screwing them over like that.

I wonder if that's why he doesn't make videos on their guns any more? And did they blackball him with all of the other auction houses as well? I seem to recall he'd do guns at several auctions but they all seemed to stop at around about the same time.

He has continued to make videos on Morphy auction house guns, IIRC there was a video released on May about a Dutch navy luger, that was shot at Morphy's.

What’s wrong with Ian again?

Nothing, really.
It's mostly 1) jealousy, 2) very tenuous claims about his political leanings, business practices or other perceived slights or 3) minions from karl's gae commune.

To me he strikes a good balance between surface level and detail (he has and still does go into detail and covers more than an overview, but that gets brushed aside I think sometimes by comparing it to other content that's 2hrs+ of fannying about on sling swivel screws or the thread used for stitching some crappy .32 blowback service pistol used by some backwater country at the arse end of WW1.)
Can't deny his work ethics, certainly seems to invest a lot of time and effort even after quite a few years, glad for him it seems to pay off. And seems to be a pretty decent guy what can be judged from a far (i.e. not corrupted by fame or other idiocy).
Stays mainly on the technical side, relates to production and manufacturing. Overall a good ambassador for firearms related content, if you showed his videos to a Euro you might interest them and not have them report you to Von der Lying.

From what I remember from that period what Ian himself wrote about it when asked was that RIA wanted more control over his video's/content and that was not something he was okay with. They seemed to have gone their separate ways on good terms. Didn't see any snide remarks from RIA or anything along those lines.
He only did video's at RIA and James D. Julia as far as I can remember. James D. Julia is now Morphy's and he's still good with them judging by the videos from last year/this year. John Keene still a guest from time to time (talking about audio issues, does that guy have a voice that's somehow incompatible with audio recording equipment?)

I've got that book, it's pretty good. It does, however, contain quite a few nigger words which Ian probably would've had removed or otherwise censored. Imo, Antelope Hill was the better option for that book anyways.

Antelope Hill's translation made that book a very grueling read. It's a travesty Ian's publisher couldn't have worked on it. Karl barely defended Ian despite being photographed with the author when he first visited Finland in 2018 for Finnish Brutality.

Though there is a little bit of irony since Antelope Hill is a neo-Nazi publishing house masquerading as a right-wing publisher. This was covered in the Poast thread and the owners were easily doxed by some Antifa vigilante group.

Someday I will get a rifle that I feel deserves its own setup like this.

I find that once you get out of the hype-beast/larper doomerism attitude towards guns you quickly find something that you really like. even if it is still some AR-15 or other.

I used to be full bore tactitarded because i was sure that there'd be a civil war during trumps first term. I 100% drank the Kool-aid. I had a nice AR (LMT w/ Stiener optic. was the best i could afford). I had plates. I had a chest rig. I would load my self down with 500rds of 5.56 (210rds in mags) and hike 5 miles a day in the summer heat. I lost over 200 pounds.

I also hated every second of it, but so deep down the rabbit hole was I that i though if i didn't do this non-sense I'd die in the streets. My back is turbo fucked as well as my hips now (because i was a dumbass child that didn't bother to reasearch how to carry weight correctly). I'm sure it's mostly from my formerly fat-ass but larping as i trench monkey I'm sure didn't help at all.

I got burnt out on guns. didn't shoot for a year or two. regretted spending all that money (thousands). Sold all my gear.

It wasn't until I was exposed to what most would call "fudd" guns that my interest in the hobby was rekindled. I've since bought some nice revolvers and 2 SxS shotguns that i adore. I built a gun rack for them, now know how to reload my own ammunition and can hunt for my dinner. point is: when you find the gun, you'll know.
