General GunTuber thread

There's plenty of decent insert round here AK platform rifles, just none of them are supposed to be anti material rifles.

That's what happens when retards actually buy into the "AK is best gun, can shoot everything" meme, and that's pretty much what Herrera's gimmick is. The ultimate manifestation of that would be an AK shooting anti-material rounds, which is where that dipshit project came from. The funny thing is that Herrera (mostly ironically) balks at 5.56 conversions of AK rifles, but then decides to make an AK in 50 .BMG instead of, you know, 12.7 mm.
I get where you’re coming from, but I think .50 BMG is really the only choice if you want to tinker with and eventually sell an anti-material rifle in the US.

You can buy new production and surplus .50 BMG at my local sporting goods store for $5 to $8 a round. 12.7x108mm goes for $15 to $20 online, often in lots of one each.

What widely available weapons in the US fire 12.7. Like any Russian round there's a huge amount of it available in international surplus, if there was a demand it could be imported.

Yeah, but I’m not sure of the legal status of the round and weapons that use it. Maybe someone here knows more.

.50 BMG and the Barrett don’t need a destructive device stamp, as far as I can tell despite technically requiring more than a 1/2 inch bore. I don’t know if 12.7mm rifles have been through the same vetting process even though the slug is very close dimensionally. Could be another hurdle to using 12.7mm, but like I said, feel free to chime in if anybody knows more.

I’m not trying to white knight for the guy, it’s just a fascinating scenario. I’d go with .50BMG in his place, but then again I probably wouldn’t try to build a piston operated large bore rifle with the AK’s locking surfaces.

Because the Democrats have a hate-boner for Russia, it's now illegal to import Russian surplus to the US.
I don't live in the US, but I thought there was a lot of 7.62x39 coming in from former soviet clients. Could the 12.7 come from the same place?

Also if there's currently 12.7 for sale legally in the US (although expensive!) that probably means there's no legal issues.

The problem is that cutting off the tap from Russia made scalping very profitable, so for example Canadians are buying up ammo and guns from Soviet satellites and Russia itself and importing them to Canada cheaply, then bringing them south at exhorbitant rates. You can still probably order some surplus from satellite countries but it's not dirt cheap like it was even 10 years ago.

Lol Not anymore they're not. Trudeau has fucked them. They're as cucked as the UK is.

Has he regularly been deleting videos, or is this something that just happened?
As far as I know this would be a first for him aside from the weird workout routine video that he posted and took down after getting butthurt over the comments, but I haven't been looking at his view numbers closely over time, I just happened to see a couple of them in my feed today and got curious as to how his numbers were holding up. I haven't unsubbed from InRange, and won't while there is still the potential for more drama out of Karl. I am wondering how any further drama going forward is going to affect the brutality matches and the Brownells deal, the intersection of drama and $$ is always interesting.

I remember that, I didn't realise he had taken it down. I remember it as being fairly ok, I like workout routines where you can't just switch off and have to actually concentrate mentally as well as physically on what you're doing.

Does Jörg Sprave of The Slingshot Channel count as GunTube? He mucks about with air rifles and slingshots.
He's interesting to me because he seems like an actual leftist, as opposed to a virtue signalling breadtube dickhead, he helped start a trade union and is challenging Google and YouTube on its terms for how YouTubers are paid by the platform. And he has a brilliant laugh when he's firing chainsaws out of a ballista thing he's built.

Things continue to slide slowly downhill for Karl and InRange, socialblade (archive) shows both vies and subscribers being down. I wonder what video(s) got yeeted on the 28th to send 102k views into the great beyond?
It's probably this:

Since Brandon and the AK50 was brought up earlier, and to get some content that doesn't involve Karl acting like a sperg on facebook. Brandon actually made an AK50 update today.

His new prototype look like it weighs 15-20 pounds with just the lower, trunnion, and buffer....

So he went from under-engineering with the first to over-engineering with the second.

lol I know which one I'd prefer to have next to my face when it fires.

In fairness he's making progress, there must be an engineering term for developing a project that's based on an obviously flawed idea. So long as it's safe and it fires more often than not, I think most of his supporters will be happy.

I mean he hasn't done a gofundme or anything like that has he? It's his own money he's putting into it.
