So, bottom line, if you have a .edu e-mail address that works, you get a free year of Gemini Advanced AI, as well as all the other Google One features, such as a Google Drive that has 2 TB of storage.

I used my alumnus .edu e-mail address and it worked like a charm.

If the product is free, you are the product.

Or Google is just desperate to get their user numbers up over competitors, who knows.

Basically this, they just want a bunch of people to use it so when they graduate or w/e they'll continue using it because its what they're used to, ideally getting whomever they work for to pay for it.

Google picked their side, now they can cry themselves to sleep when it fucks them.

Adding to my theory of these companies making children retarded on purpose. Why even go to college when you don't wanna put in the work? American education system is deepfried at this point.

I keep yelling at my phone to shut the fuck up about gemini and I didn't even know it was something you had to buy. Trump should nuke goggle.

The less retarded version of Gemini is a paid product as part of their Google One platform. The more retarded version, that is about as useful as an autistic 12 year old when a train is within their visual field, is free.

Dang. I bought a Pixel phone and got one year for free. Now I can get another free year by using my alumn email? I can't be bothered to check, but I am pretty sure it's not cumulative.

Looks like Google is desperate to get people to use their AI tools. Freebies everywhere.

I'm assuming it can be used to cheat easily? This doesn't seem like it will help anyone.
A lot of universities try to cope with AI by "implementing" it into the "tool set" of students. I guess everyone just tries to be progressive or thinks it is easier to just let students use AI instead of banning it. To some degree it might be true because the "AI detectors" detect AI everywhere and writing any assignment under the ban of AI would be insufferable.
