Ahh, times where shit took an eternity to install stuff but there was an earnest feel to it all.

I still associate this specific logo variant with Need For Speed: Underground 2. Gotta miss the days of buy-once-keep-forever and zero in-game transactions to distract you from the game itself.

EA and Ubisoft had great logos and games back in the day. Horrible companies that completely ruined these same studios down the line and completely ruined their own logos, but hey, at least there was a time when they had a little bit of soul in them. Too many EA games with this logo I liked to count, EA BIG sports games also had a great title drop.

Just because EA has always been shit doesn't mean they didn't release some of their best games around that time, coincidentally when they used that logo. You could call it an era when gaming still wasn't complete dogshit and you could at least enjoy the games these studios released, which funnily enough ended about the time they switched to a more sterile, corporate logo. What do you not fucking understand about this? Credit is to the artists not the company. The company paid for it to be "pretty". The artists did the bulk. EA has always been a cunt who kills studios and releases shovelware. Just because they've published some good games doesn't mean they're any better, nor do they deserve the credit that should go to the individuals behind the games. They are everything wrong with gaming companies.

Wasn't a knock against it, just stating how I felt his problem could apply to those two chapters in HL1

Though to be honest FaF is unfortunately one of the more underwhelming chapters. I wont spare the rod from it because it's technically separate from the second best chapter in the game, Surface Tension.

OaR, the real best chapter, is funnily enough like ST, another great chapter followed by an underwhelming one. Though Apprehension and Residue Processing are far worse then FaF.
