Going through all 30 pages of this thread and furiously negrating anyone whose tastes I disagree with

Anyways, my basic bitch answer is Brad Pitt in his Troy era. Literal perfection.

Brad Pitt
I'm with you. For me, I remember having a realization in the theater while watching Fight Club. It wasn't the character - I don't like chaotic dirtbags, it was his looks. After the movie my two girlfriends were in palpations over Edward Norton. I couldn't believe it. I enjoyed his acting in the movie but he was not sexy in the slightest. At least to me.

Despite being a huge LOTR fan, I did not 'get' Sean Bean. Then watched the 'Sharpe' series and understood the appeal, and you can too. He also welds, birdwatches, and regularly gets fan mail intended for Mr. Bean.

I am also appalled that Barbarella has not mentioned her costar John Phillip Law, who admittedly aged weird but at the time looked about as close to a living Ken doll as any man before or since.

Oh boy, the handsome men thread. Lemme see what I can ratlte off the top of my head.

Unironically Rick Astley in his prime. It's easy to forget that he was like 21 with a baritone befitting a guy in his mid 30s. He was awkwardly dad dancing while wearing dad's suit that was slightly too big for him, and somehow he made it work. Also, I envy the sideswiped slickback hair. I could never get the part to look right on my head. Even in middle age, Rick Astley has aged far more gracefully than his one hit wonder contemporaries.

Shawn Michaels is a weird case for me because I most enjoy his second run starting in 2002 and ending some time in 2010-2012. That was after he was on dope, drinking in excess, and other such things that pro wrestlers sadly succumb to. I won't lie: Shawn Michaels looks visibly middle aged even back in 2002, but somehow? It works for him. He's got this unmatched charisma where he can show up calling himself a sexy boy, wearing full-on rhinestones with a codpiece, and be flamboyant to hell and back, and somehow not come across as a raging homo in the process. It's that level of charisma and comfort in his own skin that makes me inclined to say he's handsome... but that's more abstract than tangibly cosmetic.

If I had to talk about pro wrestlers who unironically make me swoon? Look no further than the late, great, and dearly missed Eduardo Gory Guerrero Llanes. I have a much deeper attachment to his 2002-2005 Smackdown run than anything that came before, but watching the entire Eddie Guerrero/Chyna storyline on WWE Network way back when had me so endeared to Eddie during his mullet era. This version of Eddie? He plays it up like a telenovela character: the handsome and bumbling male love interest who tries so hard to be the man that Chyna deserves, but his own insecurities are what lead to him doing the very things that Chyna hates. If he wasn't so doped out on steroids at the time, he would easily be a Telemundo romantic drama character. The mullet, the slim moustache, the light chin goatee, it's almost there.

This next one, I call "The Brad Delp to Earl Hickey pipeline" AKA "the douchy city liberal safe sleazy look, often imitated (quite poorly) and never duplicated." The big difference is that the Brad Delp to Earl Hickey pipeline is remarkably more sincere. I can't really explain it beyond that.

Can't ever pretend that I was ever a fan of Doctor Who, I've only ever seen the Christopher Eccleston series and then like the next series and a half with David Tennant. I will say that David Tennant absolutely blew Christopher Eccleston in terms of wardrobe and presentation.

I remember watching Barbarella for the first time as a young teen and wanting my own sexy blind birdman lol. Thank God the internet wasn't around to turn that into a "thing".

Does he now?
Apparently he hosts a birding podcast, although haven't checked it out and can't vouch for how tolerable it is as it seems to have government funding, which means there's probably some feckless little lanyard person somewhere in the mix exerting pressure to decolonize bird watching or queer the birds or whatever.

Also heard he hates flying so much that when they were shooting the whole snowy mountain pass scene in Fellowship, he refused to get in the helicopter and would just climb the whole damn mountain in costume each morning and meet everyone there.

Believe many of us old 'uns dodged whatever our personal toaster-fucker bullet would have turned out to be if the internet had been a presence in our formative years. I'm sure there's still tumblr porn of it somewhere.

In no particular order here are my long standing favorites:

Bela Lugosi. Here he is in uniform during WWI. But no matter his age, he was simply a beautiful man.

Conrad Veidt. Ironically, he was set up to be the original Dracula but he fled Germany, and the part ended up going to the actor who had previously portrayed him in stage, Bela Lugosi. Conrad was Cesare in The cabinet of Dr Caligari, and Gwynplaine in The Man who Laughs, a film whose ending still makes me tear up. His appearance in the film had him featured with a Glasgow Smile and was the inspiration for The Joker. His character in the film was good though. His last film was Casablanca where he played the head Nazi officer.

And lastly, Mads Mikkelsen. Also, I do have a thing for his older brother, Lars. However, I have spammed enough.

I've been listening to The Cure all week, so my mind is oriented to the 80s.

Young Robert Smith (The Cure) had a nice face:

As did Morrissey (The Smiths):

And Martin Fry (ABC) (who has remained handsome at every age) :

And Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet):
1785974811517.jpeg

Roddy Frame (Aztec Camera) wasn't notably handsome but perfectly nice-looking (giving very Andrew McCarthy in a John Hughes movie) :

Peter Murphy (Bauhaus) had a certain aesthetic (this pic is his most non-extreme look I could find):

And I've posted them before I'm sure but in terms of consistent handsomeness spanning a wide ranges of preferred types:

Mine will always be Alan Wilder from Depeche Mode.

And he was damn sexy in the live version of In Your Room when he played the drums:

One that people side-eye me for:

Timothy Dalton. I loved him as a Bond but damn, that man is charming in Hot Fuzz.

Fuck that shit. Timothy Dalton is fine. He was an underrated Bond too.

Jason Isaacs. Great face. Great voice.
I am weirdly most attracted to him in this very film as sexy daddy (for some reason Northern?) Zhukov.
For British royalty I was always a fan of their black sheep Edward VIII.

I appreciate you thinking outside the box here, but he was an even shittier person than most people realize and that kills whatever mildness of appearance he might have. When his disabled little brother died he wrote to his mom saying “ugggh who even caaaaares.”
