Lucy was a childish retard, but she wasn't a fat slob. Maybe not an exact match, but it's close.

That sort of thing was more common in the TV Before Times; e.g. I Dream of Jeannie, where Jeannie was a dumb blonde who didn't understand contemporary society, while her "husband" was a competent, though cucky and possibly gay, astronaut.

The Nanny almost fits. The dad who employed what's her bucket was wealthy and had his shit together while his babysitter was an obnoxious Jewish stereotype and the show made it clear she was meant to be a total bimbo.

Nothing comes to mind in terms of "fat slob wife" (does Rosanne count?), but there are some shows that had a goofy or dumb wife. Some that come to mind are I Love Lucy and Green Acres.

I Dream of Jeannie sort of counts even though they didn't get married until nearing the end, but Jeannie is usually portrayed as inept or accident prone while Darren is the nagging smart ass. Same applies for The Nanny. There are probably more but nothing's coming to mind right now.

Was the wife really that dumb? I remember the kids being dumb and Doc was obviously the smartest one in the household, but then again it looks like all my memories of his wife are a complete blank.
