Health affects of copius caffeine abuse

I have extremely vivid dreams, and often nightmares when I drink 300mg + of caffeine. I also get panic attacks,
indigestion and heartburn.

What do you guys experience?

How long have you been drinking caffeine? You might want to cut your intake if the effects of 300mg are difficult to deal with. If you drink a lot of coffee then maybe switch to something like green tea, which has a decent amount of L-theanine, (to piggyback off of @Wallace's suggestion). They also use L-theanine in veterinary settings as a mild anxiolytic. Switching might also help with the heartburn, since green tea's pH ranges from neutral to mildly basic.

I almost exclusively drink green tea, so it's tough to get up to 300mg a day (two bags is about 40mg I believe) and it's naturally got the above L-Theanine in it, along with other helpful antioxidants which should make you more alert purely by virtue of being good for your system.

That's usually my philosophy, is that ideally if you're doing other healthy stuff you shouldn't have to completely drown your body in caffeine to make it work. That's especially true if you're a person who experiences paradoxical responses to stimulants.

Affect is a verb and effect is (generally) a noun.
 
I just get really hyper if I have a lot of caffeine in one sitting. By really hyper, I mean the kind that feels like you're trapped and ready to vomit. Not fun.
 
Caffeine increases your testosterone, you really should start smoking 2 packs of Winston Red 100s a day to increase it even more. That's just Health Science. FOLLOW THE SCIENCE!
Jokes aside, isn't there actually some kind of interaction between nicotine and caffeine as well? A guy I used to know had a thing for drinking coffee and smoking pipe tobacco at the same time, saying it gave him kind of a pleasant rush or buzz of some sort that neither one alone could.

...jokes? Caffeine and nicotine absolutely do increase your testosterone levels. Do I look like some kind of joker to you? Don't answer that.

I'm not sure about the exact pharmacological interaction between caffeine and nicotine but I can confirm that a cup of coffee and a cigarette make a wonderful combination. Add some Polish speed and Bob's your uncle, it completes what I call the Holy Trinity. The speed is great to keep your arteries nice and unclogged, too.

If you do stims, do it properly, amphetamines and MDMA stuff. Caffeine is for amateurs as has far too many stupid side effect for zero euphoria.
That "heartburn" will develop (likely already has) into a gastrointestinal ulcer, and then you will know what abdominal pain truly feels like, have to go on diet, and on meds that will make you suffer from water retention and weight gain too. Probably.
So stop lol

I'm not a degenerate meth addict, I just have attention issues. Stimulants help me to concentrate

The caffeine gives you energy and flow, the nicotine hones the edge to keep you focused and calm. There's a reason why Western Civilization exploded in creativity and innovation once use of both became common in the 1600s, and my personal theory is that the wheels started coming off once tobacco use began being demonized in the 1960s. Granted, cigarettes are really fucking bad for you, but the thing is, there are other ways of using tobacco that reduces the level of harm. Myself, I smoke a pipe and use nasal snuff, and have for decades with little effect on my overall health. I actually consider my caffeine use to be far more damaging.
 
I don't drink coffee and never have. I haven't drunk a soda in almost a decade. That was my only source of caffeine. I also don't drink those energy drinks that are full of caffeine. Most of them are just high amounts of sugar and caffeine and just going to give you diabetes or make your diabetes worse if you already have it.

The best thing you can do is get more sleep. If you using caffeine to try and keep yourself awake or motivated. If you have health insurance and a doctor talk to them and see if you have a sleep disorder like sleep apnea. Also drink more water when you wake. Drinking water will make you feel better. Caffeine just goes straight through you. It also irritates the bladder.
 
OP, I used to use caffeine at levels comparable to you. I quit completely around six months to you, and I can report that I personally think it's been beneficial for my mental state. If not directly from the caffeine, I believe that quitting improved my sleeping to some degree that might be the actual source of the trouble.

The nightmares though, those haven't gone away. I recommend a healthy method of coping and de-stressing such as walking, visiting relaxing places, some sort of journal/writing if you are so inclined, or beating your wife.
