Am I missing something about the gas launcher? It just seems worse than the flamethrower in every way for the bug front. Is it something that works better on the bot front?
Its more a support/distract weapon. You flume up a group of enemies and they go blind/crazy attacking each other while stumbling around.

Then you hit them with the 500kg/Airstrike.

It works a bit better with the bots since they start shooting each other while the bugs try to get into melee range.
 
It just seems worse than the flamethrower
fires instantly, makes enemies spazz out/schizo, harder to collateral yourself then the fire. It was fun to fuck around with, feels like theres more utility with the grenades tho, supposedly gas lowered armor value so theres that too. Might just be in my head but it feels like it has marginally greater range then the flamers
 
Jumped into the game recently, and... honestly, it was alright. Died in the tutorial mission because I failed to dive when needed, but the first impressions of actual gameplay went well; teamed up with a random, shot a few bugs, collected a few resources, extracted. Not bad overall, just... wondering if I should hold onto the game, right now. I've got some other shooters to play, and money's a bit short right now, but this game is pretty solid...
 
I am really happy that the default MG is viable as a support weapon again on difficulty five and six missions. It's a very fun gun to use and I think on bot missions it pairs well with the counter-sniper rifle. The HMG also slaps cheeks now.
 
I'm sneeding so hard for the past 6 months at this game's succes, when EDF 5 was much more advanced in every way. Also I fucking hated the first Helldivers, pretty sure almost nobody played that much, or remember it or they just good o' retarded. Obviously also fuck Sony.

On top of most gamers having no taste at all, is it just the graphics, the timing of the release or having surfaces level mechanics that made this game such a success while EDF 5 still gets overlooked to this degree?

I looked at some youtubers to know what the bottom of barrel of exquisite window lickers doing with EDF to establish a baseline. I think the problem is gamers thinking the game is as retarded as they are. They never play at Inferno let alone DLC mission. They never even think to let a few monster alive to collect boxes or looking through their arsenal or trying out different strategies rather than quickly dissmising near infinite weapon variety.

I still can't cope with the fact that Slopedivers lost their last remaning brain cell at the idea of a shittist mech ever existed when EDF 5 has like 50 great ones plus 2 more classes on top of fag filter(ranger class).

It's a different sort of game. You're fighting giant bugs n shit, like literally gigantic ants, in urban settings right? HD2 can be repetitive but most horde shooters can be. It's like when you played all of l4d2 and then you still do runs with your boys so you can shoot the shit while mowing down zombies. Randoms are tolerable but this game is way more fun with friends so you can mow down commie bots while talking about stupid shit.

Also I dunno but doesn't EDF have like hololive vtuber decoys or some shit (maybe that's 6 but also 5). I'm sure a lot of people looked into it and saw waifu decoys n shit and said no thanks.

Homie, I LOVE EDF and even I think you're giving that game an undeserved amount of sloppy. Let people enjoy their respective bug exploding vidya, both are equally fun to play.

the master stroke is ignore both HD2 and the shitty edf6 port and simply play granblue relink...
 
Been having a lot of fun fighting bugs lately. Now that most anti-tank option 1 shot titans and chargers, I can actually stand my ground on level 10. Gas grenades are fucking awesome and free up what was my stratagem slot dedicated to the gas strike, now I take a backpack or an extra eagle strike.
 
I don't really keep up with HD2, from what I understand people were leaving the game for various issues, the devs buffed all the weapons and apparently that was enough for people to ignore the grievances they had initially and started to glaze the game again?

The weapon nerfs definitely were a good chunk of the grievances, and now they've been addressed. There's been some long awaited buffs/reworks too, the 500 KG bomb comes to mind.

The people who left because the Sony BS with the PSN garbage and their awful community reactions (a head balance dev being the hello neighbor failure dev) are gone for good.

However a few people on the fence are glad that the devs are getting their heads out of their spreadsheets and balancing things, somewhat, properly. I wouldn't say people are going out of their way to glaze it more so the remaining few are happy the game is marginally less trash.
 
The shield has been quite a godsend for fighting the bots. Any good strats for maximizing firepower? I'm thinking about getting commando as the third gun because I can't get a backpack with the shield on. Beam pistol appears to be the most viable secondary.

Isn't Helldivers II still delisted for a hundred plus countries due to the PSN garbage?
 
I'm sure the devs would love all the delisted countries to be able to play and I think Pilestedt said something along those lines and working out something. I trust him to a degree given they've been trying to fix their shit and have with all these buffs, so Occams Razor says it's Sony not budging because they wanna eventually try again with PSN. Fuck em.
 
I suppose I can accept the quasar still having a stupid retarded 15 fucking second cooldown if it can now 1 shot a titan, but I've also seen that they made the shield ineffective against bugs and divers take increased damage now?

50% less headshot damage in exchange for 15% more body damage, because muh balance.
