Rare case of :optimistic: actually becoming true. I'm still worried that we won the battle but not the Galactic war, but this is very exciting. I don't think they are going to try to "punish" players (2x rainbow, blow me) but it certainly changes the dynamic of how Sony will treat the game from now on.

And what's the very first fucking thing the community does as soon as this news drops? The slogan is now "change your review". Now I'm only on team Sony because these fuck heads deserve to eat shit. You finally won some ground and you immediately give up everything. They should be shot for treason.
 
Man this has been one of the most entertaining shit-shows in a while just from how fast it's been moving. The gang's all here, too: We got janny trannies, we got the spergs from /v/ shitting in their hand and flinging it at the jannies, we have retards trying to smuckle about not buying a video game, we have retards pulling their pants down and bending over for the billion dollar company, wrinkly japs in suits, the mutants in the steam forums trying to form coherent sentences.

This is going to come back and bite us in the ass. Save this post, I’d love to be wrong. But financially there is no longer any incentive for Arrowhead to continue imho.

I love the game but this was not the win everyone thinks it is.

This is dumb. Leaving the bad review there is bad for two reasons:
1) It doesn't give Arrowhead the leverage to tell Sony "see, you made the right choice";
2) It doesn't give you the chance to review bomb the game again when Sony/Arrowhead fucks up again (not unlikely).
If the 100k reviews stay there, you will have no ammo for the next battle. The smart move is to fix the review and to be on the lookout for any future "fuck you"s.

Exactly.

Arrowhead got their money. They lose nothing by abandoning the game. There is no long term revenue stream when people are getting the only premium content for free.

The only ones with anything to lose are the fans. Sony doesn’t give a fuck, Arrowhead got paid and can divest into 10 different companies and launch new titles and 99% of gamers wouldn’t even notice.

They are a business. They want to make money. A bunch of negative reviews and toxic fans (there are plenty, let’s not lie) don’t make money.

They already got their bag…

I could be wrong on this but I recall someone mentioning that one of the people that makes cheats for the game switched from selling the cheats to just handing them out for free when the PSN announcement was made.

It wouldn’t surprise me. The last few days have been filled with people with unlimited ammo and dropping stacks of samples on the ground as a flex. I’ve left a lot of missions bc I won’t play with those sort of people willingly.

They fought for it despite their millions of users turning into a figurative online George Floyd Riot.
They're now planning to commemorate their own L in an in-game cape.

Let them feel the consequences of their actions. Why should I go on my knees bowing down to the corpos again and congratulating them, just because they reverted a blatant "fuck you" towards me? Also still waiting for that intrusive, obscure, useless malware posing as anti-cheat to be removed from this PvE game.
 
I'm going to flip my review to positive.

Writing it in the first place was like having to take a beloved dog outback.

This was the best outcome we could ask for and it's best we don't spit in thier faces. Remember this is Sony and they are unpredictable when it comes to C-Suite decisions. There is a decent chance someone wiff honoru bitch slapped the Californians.

I do actually want Tsushima and GT7 (not at full price) and I think we sent the right message. "Here you are not special, you are just another publisher and you do not have control nor will Gabe let you push us around. Here the playerbase isn't retarded and 14. You succeed on the merit of the game and nothing else."

The real question going forward is if they managed to read the room on CMs, 'moderation' and DEI... and if they care

As far as I'm considered, this is still a massive win. I'm not going to be a wet blanket and suck down black pills because every demand wasn't met instantly all at once.
That said, I'm still waiting for the pointless anticheat to get removed (or at least replaced with someone less invasive) and retarded CMs to get shit canned after adding fuel to the fire.

Put aside the fact that 150,000+ Austists just bullied a multinational company into compliance (as is proper: the most powerful force on the Internet is Autism); the funniest response is how the ardent Sony defenders have been having their brains shift without the clutch. I swear it's the fucking Sonic Movie situation again. These clowns do not like that we plebs were able to effect actual change.

Maybe in the future they'll be smart enough to realize you probably shouldn't be pissing off a community that already mobilizes 200K or so people to capture imaginary rocks in space for magic space points they can buy goodies with. Possibly not, this is Sony we're talking about, and they rarely back off a terrible idea done poorly. But I'm choosing to be cautiously optimistic.

We will be back here again for round two if they backslide.

The reviews must remain as a warning to developers/publishers who want to try similar shit in the future.
