Huh, this might actually turn out to be a good thing:

CEO is going full time into tard wrangling the devs/balance team to keep the game fun.
Still being an officer is good because he gets to keep authority. Tard wrangling his shitty devs is what he should've done all along. I guess he wanted to do this all along but felt his position as CEO was restrictive since he couldn't make direct calls to the developers. I don't know their actual structure (a Google says 100, so not that big but by no means small) so maybe he could only ask the lead director to "fix X and Y" and hope it went well.

I think his heart is in the right place all the shit shows aside and making a move like this to step down from being CEO to take a position directly involved in the creation side of the studio does reflect well on his "I just wanna make good games" statement.

Game might actually be saved for the long term.

Dude in the replies is a brainlet. Yeah people can solo helldives but they all use the same two or three loadouts. All the nerf tidal wave did was limit the meta even more. The goal of the nerfs was to make the everything more viable while in practicality it had the opposite effect.

This is exactly what pilestedt needed to do. Faith in democracy=restored.

He is already probably getting dogged piled with crap but the game really needs to bump up the primary weapons damage AND increase the amount of low level mobs per level. People love blowing shit away along with seeing massive numbers with the stratagems. I don't mind getting overwhelmed cause there is always a belief that I was just one perfect stratagem toss/placement away from saving the day (and have done so in the past!). Weak weapons just suck.

I hope this is a good change. It really does seem like this game is a passion project for this guy and he's tired of seeing the absolute chucklefucks in his employ piss on it to inflate their own pride and ego.

Is this a cope way of saying "Sony forced me out of the position after I defied them and 'my good friend' definitely won't be making that mistake"?

I hope he is going down to the trenches to fix stuff but I have my doubts about why.

IMO there does need to be some care taken to avert power creep as well. The infantry weaponry should feel like they are powerful but also like they are powerful to a reasonable standard. Those powerful to a more unreasonable standard should have obvious downsides that require actual skill to overcome. Though, if they ever actually implement customization of weapons, that would give one more tool to differentiate certain weaponry.

Holy fuck, someone taking the matters into their own hands, and demoting themselves willingly to get the job done? In the year of our lord 2024? God bless him.

So that Hello Neighbor 2 faggot really didn't play the game. I thought that was a rumor, thank god that tool got fired.

I wouldn't worry about power creep when the game's arsenal amounts to BB guns that have to be magdumped in order to win most confrontations. The metagame that exists does so not because some weapons and stratagems are better than others, but because nearly everything that isn't the best gear just sucks. If anything, the people in charge of weapon balance subscribe too hard to the Riot Games Podcast of Game Design.

It looks like there's some confusion with the ballwashers like the response guy who support the status quo. The game isn't hard even with all the nerfs. The game should be harder, and that can be accomplished a variety of ways, none of which require nerfing weapons to the point of being unusable. Players want to be able to use their arsenal but youtubers and their redditor dingleberries who pretend the pummeler/ballistic shield are op and in need of a nerf are making things worse. Sorry, I'm not going to fling myself into "difficult" content with a crappy loadout just to make a point.

The thought behind the last couple rounds of nerfs has been that support weapons are too strong and players should be relying on their calldowns for dispatching priority targets. Obviously this only nudged players into hugging the same handful of stratagems they've been using only for the balancefags to make le surprised pikajew face.

The guy replacing him is some ex-Paradox C suite mystery meat. Guy has been around for a while and seems to have a somewhat positive rep but I didn't dig. The guy is absolutely going to be easier to control and Sony would be retarded to try and fuck with the goose any more than they already have. Knowing how retarded Sony is, there's no doubt they will.

It's funny that Helldivers can outperform every other current ish PS title and Sony still has the gall to try and rock the boat.

From what i've heard he's the majority shareholder of Arrowhead. He could employ himself as a janitor and still exercise overall control of the company. I think he just wants to delegate the more business side of things and focus on the creative aspects. Which isn't particularly unusual. Some smaller tech companies for example are run by the Chief Technology Officer who focuses on that aspect with the CEO being more of an administrative deputy.

The new CEO is a former Chief Business Development Officer of Paradox Interactive (I believe he left around 2021) and he's the chairman of the board for Hooded Horse. Here's some tweets he made back in late March.

Seems like a bootlicker that Sony pushed to take over. Pilestadt still has financial control over the company but Sony is probably not happy about him running his mouth and blaming Sony for shit, I wouldn't be surprised if they pressured the old CEO to shut up. Old CEO might just be a genuinely good but naive person, hence why he was willing to become CCO to hopefully right the ship due to the literal retard devs running this ship aground.

Source: dude trust me, but someone mentioned this:
Ok, this is getting out of hand. Pilestedt is still Chairman, Founder, and primary Owner of Arrowhead Game Studios, the company name is partially from HIS name. He's stepping away from the CEO seat because he prefers creative work rather than business crap. Sony does not own Arrowhead, Sony does not have a say in the management of Arrowhead, and if Jorjani steps out of line Pilestedt is still his boss and can fire him at any time. Why was Jorjani chosen? Because he was the business guy they worked with when they published Magika and did right by them then. Yes he's from Paradox, but he's OLD Paradox, employee number 23, one of the guys that made it a behemoth, not one of the idiots currently driving it into the ground, he left in 2021 and has been doing indie work since, last thing I can find with his name on it is Xenonauts 2.
Might be hopium but I'm excited. We probably won't get a balance patch this Tuesday, but I'm excited for the next.
