The spawn rates on bugs on their homeworlds are kind of fucked. If I don't bring a sentry or two, It feels like theres barely any breathing room.

I've had 3-4 dragonroachs on me so bringing 3-4 spears feels mandatory.

The eruptors come in packs of 2-4 so they can overwhelm you easily when they emerge one by one.

I get it, they wanted to create late game tier content for vets but this needs to be balanced for difficulties under 7

I came back to this after a long layoff and the balance seems hugely different. Six or so months ago I was playing Helldives somewhat comfortably on bug planets. Now, I'm getting raped on 7. It's just constant. At times it seems difficult to even call in your support weapons, as if you stand still something erupts from the ground. The dragon roaches are easily countered by the walker, but the uptime on that is a lot less than 100%. I'm sure I need to shake the rust off and git gud again but damn.

Its just the Hive World. Drop on a non-MO planet and the difference is night and day.

It's worse for hosts, if you're hosting you literally can't dodge the attacks. The ground bursters are a guaranteed hit lmao

Seems like some kind of a memory leak issue.
Absolutely feels like a memory leak. If you're a real binge gamer (or you do an operation, take a break for dinner/an hour and come back) and have left the game running for over 4 hours when stuff gets going in a mission you will start seeing those freezes. It can be just a hang-up of 2-5 seconds or it'll outright crash you and restarting clears it right up which checks out as clearing up any cache/memory and starting fresh.

Monkey brained horde shooter made by monkey retard Swedes, and yet I find myself coming back.

ETA: absolutely silly with the hosts and rupture warriors. I saw them completely ignore me and go for the host on several occasions. Now I want to start seeing if any other enemies have host priority.

There's a guy on rpghq who does good HD2 mods. I'm dead serious, pitch that there and he just might.
The problem is I don't think it'd be a good fit. I mean it's funny but the roach (and the name connection isn't lost on me) has a certain presence that his seething mild way of speaking in his fourth puberty voice doesn't jive with in my mind. Given how fucked up and spastic it is (especially when getting lit up by 2 emancipators) BMJ would be funnier IMO.

Side note of lolcow audio modding. Factory Striders being Andy Warski, or the Harvesters going "AIM AIM AIM" when turning, and shouting "STAY BACK" when firing their death ray.

Helldivers audio modding is simultaneously really simple and complete horseshit. All of the filenames were lost in compression so you have to sift through a hundred+ files, listen to them, assume you remember correctly what the sound file corresponds to, make the patch, test, repeat. But on the technical level it's so simple to actually make the mods that you could teach a boomer to do it in a few hours. If you're willing to kill a few hours you could easily make these yourself.

They are also, usually, the first mods to completely break on every update. So be warned you'll have to fix them basically every month.

What is the best way to get rid of the dragonroach? Been using Spears for the most part but idk how effective that actually is.

Actually both Spears work really well.

The usual Spear is the hard counter for the damn things, because they generally can't flee the missile once it's locked on, even if the long downtime is a severe liability on bug worlds right now.

The Speargun can down them in about 4-5 spears if you land quality hits.

Also, I can't believe none of us thought to try this before this point, but gas makes the shithead burrowing bugs surface. I'm assuming it has something to do with whatever unfathomable spaghetti code they recycled from the pouncer script that enables the Rupture warriors to do their leg humping attack.
