i bought at launch and had fun 200 hours then the updates started crawling and being worthless sidegrades and cosmetic changes of stuff i already have. like an assault rifle but 7% different than stock wow cool.
so every couple months i look at what they've added and im waiting for something cool like a tank or an APC.

nothing! its 2 years and the latest update gives you a 500kg bomb sidegrade. oh you aim it differently now. very cool.
i dont know how people play this its a fake live service game. All these games, the devs decide they dont want to make a video game anymore, they want to become a balancing factory instead and they arent even good at it. Fatshark studios is across the street from these helldivers devs and theyre doing the exact same thing. 3 year old live service game that has had like 3 actually new weapons and 1 new class and the rest of the time theyre doing retarded balancing changes nobody cares about.
are you guys HYPED!!! and gonna put in another 30 hours for the jetpack sidegrade thats diagonal instead of horizontal whoa dude and theres a new armor pen tweak on 2 guns im so hyped
And those old Illuminate units that have been left rotting in the files since the game came out that would have played more like they did in the orignal.

I've now accepted those guys are never being released because they dont fit into the retarted grunt fantasy Alexus and his team wants. Instead we're getting shitty unfair bugs and bots because that's totally what the players asked for.

Honestly the unused Illuminate units feel like something out of 1, which I adore.

I'm genuinely sad that they aren't being used because the Illuminate are the most boring, uninspired fucking faction rn and they don't deserve that.

just found out that apparently the stun grenade launcher was nerfed because they fixed a bug related to DOT stuff applying by the number of players without adjusting the stats to compensate for the change. what a bunch of dumb gay niggers. that gun was actually fun in spite of the retarded reload time.

Even the current roster could be so much better but it's not going to happen because fuck the players. They're annoying, repetitive and not even finished and it's going to stay that way.

I don't know I feel like they've been on the edge of making the Illuminate Cult a faction with both them being in 1 and also the shit that's in ambient dialogue. The implication of mind reading and psychic control that the present Illuminate just don't display. Whether that's because of a leash or not, it's not like there isn't already plenty of not so grittacular stuff in the game. The socialist robot commissars sing marching songs ffs I think it's okay to not be Hammer's Slammers but with ayys.
I think there's a real chance for some good diagetic storytelling here, with the adaptation to militarism by the Illuminate from their exile possibly meaning their more mystic class and culture has been pushed aside in favor of tech-dependent militarism.
Which could give you some neat faction variance with the Cult, making them less tech focused so they don't get the Harvesters or Stingrays or the Elevated Overseers (they're disfavored and have less funding) so they rely on more meat and illusion and stuff. Hell maybe their flying shitheads elevated overseers are faster and dodgier but have no armor because they fly with their mind.
As far as anything indicates the Illuminate are Mind Flayers but in space anyways, so the voteless and fleshmobs are just younger states of their life cycle that they're trying to solve their population crisis with. What better for a more elegant form of the meat wave tactics than a cult?
Though imo they need to cut the default fleshmob's hp by at least one thousand. Then they can stuff even tougher ones with the cult, or gimmicky ones like flood infection form deals or worm swarms.

There's so much leaked content that looks so cool that's now probably never happening because of the second team's grunt fantasy and idea of "realism" like those old squid cult units that have been rotting in the files since launch. Never getting released.

Fuck those guys.
have hope. HD1 had some cultist/ "magical" enemy unit And faction boss. arrowhead would be extra retarded to use "realism" as an excuse to forego units they've released during the First Galactic War.

They brought back Impaler and Hive Lords finally. I can understand bots being largely new or only analogous because in HD1 it was the cyborgs, and similarly if/when we reach cyberstan if it doesn't have new takes on classic borg units I think AH will finally win the golden retarded-at-fan-service award theyre desperately trying to get.

With the illuminate of course there are new units because they're back with a vengeance and ready for warfare instead of using their mysticism and space magic to desperately turn to combat where they came in supposed peace, but as someone earlier mentioned that's not reason to say they don't still have mages and stealth units etc. They definitely are the most depressing roster because it's so small. I don't mind the hordes of voteless chaff because it fits that zombie horde niche. What I do mind is that their heavy assault units are just the same guy with three different loadouts, like the devastators for bots, and then their only two "tank" units are the harvester and fleshmob. But instead of being things you grab a recoilless or EAT for and fire and forget, they're both HP sponges (one by way of a shield) and admittedly I don't mind Harvesters NEARLY as much as mobs since it's a clever game of chewing the shield down and then popping the shield antenna to then deal with properly, and you don't even need AT just Heavy pen. Really because it's only those two units for heavy budget, and I think Harvesters are rated higher similar to tanks over hulks for bots (IME), you get several fleshmobs on you at higher difficulties and fire is the easiest answer but the massive HP pool makes it take a while.

Besides new units, the only change I would make is to have fleshmobs slow the fuck down when you break their legs (IE they can't retard charge anymore) and add bleeding that stacks up with each head bit blown off like when you blow a chargers ass up. It's honestly insulting neither of these are a thing. It's a big fat enemy and you're a reasonable player:

- well it charges so maybe shooting out the legs can down it or stop charges? No, just transfers to main fat health pool.

- if all else fails hit the glowing head weak points like any video game? Not weak points retard, we're AH you thought this was a normal enemy unit?

I appreciate the advice, but I truly have given up hope. If the cult guys were still happening, they would have been released by now.

Arrowhead shit their pants after the backlash with Escalation of Freedom and abandoned the original idea with the squids. But hey that's just a theory.

The APC has been essentially finished since last year and it's still not officially released. Chinks were spawning these things in like 3 months after the game came out. We didn't even get the FRV until December. They drag out the release of new stuff for ages. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we get the more interesting squid enemies at some point later down the line.

I'm sure most of the drag is from their "stormtrooper" experience mindset. They want to add the APC but want to take all of the fun out of using it, maybe make the armor out of playdo.

Wheeled vehicles in Helldivers are balanced by the players not knowing how to drive. The majority of LRV fatalities and disablings I've seen have been entirely due to terrain and I'm sure an apc would be no different.

Do you think this October update is actually going to fix things and bring new life back into the game, or is it just a slow death from here on out? It's crazy that they had massive numbers with the Xbox launch and have already squandered it.

If they fix any bugs it will be ones that were in any way beneficial to the player and then probably erf recoilless rocket so that it only does medium penetration. It boggles the mind they have still not fixed the silent charger issue when that is easily fixed with mods

ow are you supposed to play this faction? I took a break from the game around the time they came out and I haven’t figured them out yet.

The guys with the jet packs soak way too much damage from both sickle and coyote. Should I be going with a shotgun? Eruptor? Then you have the giant flesh abominations and the stingrays. Rockets for both? I used to run the AMR regularly against bots; does it have utility against the squids?
What I normally bring against squids is the Coyote for general purpose, the regular Guard Dog to watch my back, and the MG for shooting down stingrays and killing harvesters. I normally bring incendiary grenades but should try the arc ones, and also the orbital gas strike and machine gun turret to cover my ass, defend against drops, or to shut down intersections.

coyote is sooo good.

Arrowhead released a new video, "A Democratic Conversation with Mikael Eriksson", who is the Game Director for Helldivers 2 at Arrowhead.

I'm not going to bother archiving it because there's pretty much nothing important in the video actually pertaining to the future of the game. All he said boils down to "we're working on it! oh and also we're slowing down content even more to (not) fix the game!" More empty words, less reasons to give a shit about the game. If you're interested in what he has to say about the game post launch and his idea of how the game is a real living world with "good FOMO" then check the video out.

"good FOMO
Ah yes. Not paying a ridiculous price for the killzone armor and having less acid protection than the people that did was some damn good FOMO. It's vidya release season, I think they overestimate the playerbases staying value.

There goes any desire i had to start playing this game again.
