A lot of people are reporting that the game will crash your entire computer now. Also performance is just worse across the board and multiple CTDs in a single play session are normal. The crashes are so bad and common enough that the helldivers reddit has stickied a cope post about how crashing your entire computer definitely won't cause any damage to it
Oh my fucking god! It crashes your entire computer?

I didn't know. I didn't know.

I haven’t had the hard crashes but evening games are noticeably laggier than midday games. I don’t play bugs or illuminate anymore.

My biggest complaint is AFK players. I’ve had at least one per 5 games that I have had to kick.

I haven't had time to play since before the shit patch so I stick my head in here to catch up and all I see is exaggerated whining.
Nothing's wrong, says the guy that hasn't played since things got bad. Cool story.

Everything ran fine for me until a week before the Into the Unjust update. Now it's sound cuts and slideshow FPS whenever one too many things explodes and 1-5 second random softlocks. I haven't played in a month and won't until there's a performance patch.

What do they even mean by "grunt fantasy?" Do they even know what they mean by that?
You are a faceless grunt in the machine that use's their body and blood to lube the war machine. No one will know your name or remember you.

Instead we got Glorious Soldiers for Truth, Justice, and Managed Democracy that has access to a wide range of high power weapons and the ability to pull of the most bullshit of actions (with hilarious outcomes if you fuck up) to win the day. The Devs are big mad about that but the players absolutely love it. No one minds dying if you take out your emeries in either a hilarious or spectacular way (hopefully both!).

reddit was big mad about this lmfao
Didn't AH literally have veterans as consultants for this game?

when i was incelmaxing
Hmm.

Anyway, an infamously shitty kernel-level anti-cheat mixed with a busted ass game that constantly crashes leading to hardlocks and eventual data corruption is not a hyper-exaggerated fairytale. I started getting hardlocks and even a bsod or two specifically from HD2 a few months ago, so I had to watch out for really big lagspikes and avoid killing too many bots because those seemed to be the things that triggered spiraling, at least pre-into the unjust. After that update it's just a gamble. It happens almost completely randomly now, so I've had to stop playing altogether until shit gets fixed. I just can't take the risk.

I know it's not my PC, I've taken it in and gotten a clean bill of health so far and it runs completely fine on every other game I have. HD2 specifically is the troublemaker, at least for me.

I have very little free time between juggling work and classes, so I enjoy sitting down and playing some Helldivers when I can. Of course the game strangling my PC and barely functioning is going to fuckin bother me, I paid 40+ bucks for this thing and I used it to unwind.

Arrowhead missed the part where you are a special forces team with up to four personal fire support platform/carrier vessels in low orbit sent to do high speed low drag missions in the most dangerous parts of the battlefront.

I know that they tried to hide this with the tutorial where all you learn is "shoot gun, throw grenade, play DDR to strategem, now have cape" and then they put you on ice alongside hundreds of other chucklefucks. But they also hold the general up as an example of a helldiver who emerged from the fire reforged. As you get better at the game and play as a team with other good players you become angels of fucking death. The devs should know this but they don't play their own damned game.

Yeah I took the whole introduction to understand it as you're already SEAF and you're lucky enough to have lived 3+ months in active duty so you qualify. Your only difference is medical screening (read: a cocktail injection to acclimate you to stims and other experimental drugs) and a basic training to force you to take the contract and acquire new hardware. You are a "grunt" but you've qualified at a relatively low bar to get the shiny toys and support system, with it being inherited by another guy on death because you're still fighting extremely dangerous and almost insurmountable odds. AH just doesn't get this. You're still disposable to the governing body just like the SEAF, but you as an individual are not just a dude with a peashooter. You're spec ops.

Helldivers are dropping into denied or hostile environments to commence sabotage, intel collection, and coordinate close air support and the low orbit equivalent of naval gunfire. That's pretty much a 1:1 description for most jobs that fall under SOCOM. The devs grunt fantasy is stupid, if they wanted that, then we'd be playing as generic SEAF troops being fed into the meat grinder on the front lines.

The sweet spot for Helldivers 2 has always been finding the difficulty level where you feel like you are fighting against overwhelming odds and still kicking ass. It's astounding that the devs stumbled on to this by accident, but their numerous blunders balancing the game prove they they don't quite understand what their players enjoy.
Probably because they do not play or test the game.
