Along with that the official Helldivers Xitter account has been taken over by the Bots with a few posts in binary. The Binary translates into Swedish (lol) which are just messages begging for mercy and saying that Super Earth is lying about the war, typical robot bullshit.

I've also been dealing with Redditors trying to spin the bots actions as justified with no irony. Maybe that was more arguable in the first game but it's definitely no longer the case.

Its totally justified that during an invasion the bots chase unarmed civilians with flame throwers and chainsaw hands, that they butcher captives in cages and blend them into stem cell soup collected in large vats, OR that they place bodies onto spikes like Vlad the impaler while wearing decorative human skulls on their larger units.

Kill all Bots!

It's not even worth taking seriously. They're not even the same people taking vengeance, since the Cyborgs have been shut up in Cyberstan for a hundred years. The whole deal of Helldivers 2 is sins of the grandfather coming home to roost, the only faction not engaged in spiteful retribution are the bugs because they're not intellectually let alone morally capable of it.
The only real argument one could make for the bots not being so bad is that their definition of having "eliminated inequality" involves scanning your brain and uploading you to their cloud, which means your body is superfluous as the "you" has moved on to data-socialism or whatever, but even without the insane chainsaw terror troops and hulks with buzz saws and flamethrowers, that's still a complete disregard for any way of life or even form of life beyond their own, which is just what Super Earth practices anyways.

Really if you're engaged in hypotheticals, in Helldivers if you're human the choice of which side you're on has already been made.

The Automatons have no such claim, they're just soulless war machines designed to wipe out humanity and nothing else. They literally have weapons built into their anatomy, killing is their sole purpose and being killed doesn't matter to them because their minds are part of a digital collective. They don't have families, or hopes, or dreams. They exist to kill humans. That's it.

There has never been a single bot dissident over the course of the entire war.

Trying to justify the bots tossing babies into vats and impaling their parents on spikes as war trophies with "buh-buh-buh da cyborgs were oppressed!" is borderline psychotic. No amount of oppression or righteous anger justifies committing atrocities against innocent people who had zero say in it.

Super Earth is not nazi germany where the people vooooooted for Hitler and turned a blind eye to the jews being shoah'd. Super Earth citizens are completely powerless and have absolutely no sway over what the government does, and anyone who even questions the government is instantly killed or imprisoned. They are brainwashed from birth to think aliens are just evil monsters that want to brutally murder all humans, and said aliens acting like evil monsters and brutally murdering all humans they come across isn't exactly convincing them otherwise.

You can't justify and side with the other factions being just as bad as Super Earth while simultaneously calling Super Earth irredeemably evil.

There are no good guys in Helldivers 2. That's the point. The Automatons and Illuminate of HD2 are twisted reflections of Super Earth more than they are the remnants of the original Squith and Cyborgs. 100 years of seething hatred and bloodlust has morphed them into being just as genocidal and evil as Super Earth is.

The fact there have been millions of dissidents since the war started and yet not a single human has ever been spotted in the alien ranks should say plenty. It doesn't matter if you disagree with Super Earth, or if you actively fight Super Earth, or if you're a random unarmed civilian who has never even seen an alien let alone killed one, you're a human and thus inherently have ancestral blood on your hands. The sins of your great grandparents is a death sentence no matter who you are.

Also, with the Automaton message, I love that it's not even attempting to sue for peace or being a splinter faction that wants to, just "Hey your leaders suck, you should depose them mid-war".

Also, was working from home today and my calendar was basically clear, so I got on HD2 for a couple hours, I had a Shredder Tank personal objective, and went nearly 4 hours without seeing a single one. But I did see approx. 50 billion fucking war striders.
 
I always took it that the Automatons were an automated contingency made by the Cyborgs. In the event they lost the first war, the Automatons would automatically come back after however many years to take back to Cyberstan and liberate the Cyborgs. Which is exactly what they did. Any ideology they spout is just the Cyborg agenda and demoralization propaganda targeted at their enemies. Presentation says that Automatons are a mindless automated war machine serving the Cyborgs. Redditors say they are somehow an independent society that is heckin' valid despite having no purpose or infrastructure other than that of which to facilitate warfare. And realism says that no matter how sentient their AI actually would be, they are designed to be singly dedicated to warfare and lack any of the human or even animal emotions or aspirations that inspire morality and empathy to begin with. Imagine if the only incentives you had in life, your only aspirations, only purpose and motive was to kill your enemy. No capacity for grief, no capacity for empathy. No capacity for fear or self preservation. That's your 'sentient' war robot. It does think, but it's incomparable to a human or an animal
 
The bugs are unironially more sentient than the bots. I have more sympathy for the farm animals that just want to eat grass and shit spores than I do for fucking chainsaw-hand robots that stick heads on pikes for the lols.

The automaton dilemma, either the bots are sentient and should be killed for how they treat our civilians, or they aren't sentient, and killing them holds no moral weight.
