The Vox engine spam wouldn't be so bad if the average pubbie didn't have a sub 10 IQ. Every D10 mission I do on Cyberstan consists of me singlehandedly doing objectives while my team burns through reinforcements in an irrelevant corner of the map.
At some point you HAVE to think "maybe fighting 15 ultrarape machines at the same time isn't effective", but they never do.

I gave up on trying to fight Voxes and did a stealth build.

Way way easier, but the rest of the randos just kept going loud and burnt through all our reinforcements.

Worse was they’d follow me as I was trying to stealth and started asking why I stayed away from them. I had to explain that I was a stealth build, and then asked why I would bring stealth.

MAYBE BECAUSE MOST RANDOS DONT KNOW HOW TO FIGHT THE VOXES, GET MELTED BY THE BORGS, AND BURN THROUGH ALL THE REINFORCEMENTS

LIKE EXACTLY WHAT YOU IDIOTS WERE DOING THE ENTIRE GAME

Everytime I see those vox engines I think of the mechs from resistance fall of man.

They are pretty OP lore wise as well.

Id like to fight the Chimeras next

Portable Hellbombs work. So does blasting it with that disposable nuke from the Siege Breakers warbond.
Portable requires you to get close and eats up a backpack plus you have to consider call down time. It’s not impossible to make it work but it’s awkward.

Leveler does a lot but you have to hit it in the belly and even then it usually needs an ultimatum as a finisher. Again not impossible, and more preferable than hell bombs. But it’s awkward.
Leveller, EAT, Portable Hellbomb, and an orbital strat of your choice (I do gatling) is how I've been clearing D10 with vox spam.

I finally niggered enough level 1 mission super shekels for the dust devils (already had detonation) and its nice having an AR that can kill automatons with more ammo per mag. The speargun is fun too but I can't for the life of me hit warstriders in their hitpoints, skill issue I suppose (I've been running supply backpack, might switch the spear gun up for nade launcher and just spam)

I do level 8 missions, just enough to suck but doesnt suck too much.

So im looking at siege breakers, dust devils, or redacted. Which of the three would you all get? I like the AR from dust devils, siege breakers crazytime hammer and grenande launcher look sick, redacted stealth armor + c4 looks awesome. What do you goofballs think

I legit do not understand the hate for Vox, I play on level 10 Difficulty and use the nuke secondary and lazerbeam strategem to kill at least one of them. There's also plenty of cover to hide behind avoid getting gibbed by them.

These vox engines replace factory striders and I don't fucking remember there being 5 of them ever in anything I've played. At most I think I've seen 3 and 2 is uncommon, that tends to be on those evacuate assets defense missions or another clustered map.

In other news they're incentivizing bugdiving to requisition more lives for the global effort. I tried it out a bit and I figured the hammer would be decent but it's just kinda okay? It's better for bugs as a heavy swarm deleter like when there are two or three commanders and some hive guards than an elite remover. I tried hitting a charger in the head but no luck, and it didn't seem to blow out its rear either in one go, nevermind trying to get behind one. Maybe the swing just hit the shell first.

Playing on Hard is fun because you can just beeline it to the main objective, complete it, then wreck the Clankers shit on your way to the extract. I had some pretty good games with just 1 other player.

Here's are my equipment likes and dislikes from suffering through Cyberstan 10s.
  • Primary: Purifier or Plasma Punisher, but the Punisher is way more handy due to needing no charge time. Honorable mentions include the JAR, the Scythe, and the Explosive Crossbow.
  • Secondary: I really like the heavy revolver for staggering cyborgs that get too close. The funky sidearm shotty does the same with fewer shots and quicker reloads. I get more value out of these than two shots with the Ultimatum.
  • Grenade: Dynamite or gas.
  • Backpack and Support Weapon: Supply Pack with Grenade Launcher is very versatile and ups your survivability. Hot Dog with Laser/Commando/EATS will do a respectable amount of damage. The Hot Dog can take out enemies up to Hulk size. Honorable mention to the hellbomb and shield. I find the hellbomb struggles against the Vox since they are so fast. The shield tends to spend more time down than up since you take chip damage from distant bots constantly, but it will help your stims last longer.
  • Strategems: Precision Strike for reliable and quick damage (it will seriously damage a Vox too), Napalm Barrage to cover bot reinforcement drops.
  • Armor perk: Explosive resistance or extra stims.
  • Any primary with poor ammo economy or a long reload time. The crossbow struggles here which is why I swapped to the plasma punisher.
  • Support weapons with backpacks. Stationary reloads feel too vulnerable with cyborgs constantly sprinting at you. The damage tradeoff for weapons like the recoilless just isn't worth it.
  • Heavy machine gun. Even with the supply pack it takes too much ammo to kill anything.
  • Other guard dogs.
  • Any Eagle. Every other red blob seems to be an anti air emplacement.
  • Barrages are underwhelming with the exception of the Gatling and Walking barrages. And neither of those will reliably take out a Vox.
  • Any armor perk aside from the two above. You just take so much constant damage.
I haven't tried anything from the two latest warbonds as I don't have them yet.

I've been using the new Siege Ready medium armor from the Super Store. Keeps me in the fight longer, especially with how many trash mobs are constantly thrown your way. I'd use heavy armor with Explosive Resistance if not for the Vox spam. Yeah I know by definition the armor helps mitigate their rocket attacks but there are just so fucking many of them being spammed at you at all times that it effectively negates the armor's perk.

And if not for the spam, the C4 backpack would be my go-to for dealing with Vox since from my experience 3 C4's to the front is enough to kill them, probably less if you get it on their back but fuck if I can manage that with 2 or 3 of them clipping into each other. And since you only have 9 C4's and the game just respawns them 2-3 at a time every 30 fucking seconds it becomes impractical. Only way it becomes practical is either having a friend with a supply pack attached to your ass at all times, or everyone else you're playing with being fine with you doing a Niko Avocado impression with every resupply call-in. But if you play with randoms, well...

Just go for level 6 missions man

yeah that give or take a level has been the sweet spot before it becomes unpleasant

7-8 has been my sweet spot for most of the game's history if playing a competent 4 man squad, barring one or two patches where they goofed up the spawn rates and patrols and whatever else. When I play as a 2 man team with my buddy we do D5/D6.

I feel like all of this game's difficulty "discourse" would be solved if they added a D11 and D12, but made them mechanically identical to D8/D9 and just don't tell anyone. Then all the Redditors can play those and think they're John Helldiver, and all the rest of us can still have the option of insane difficulty options if we want them.

I've seen 5 at once before. Still better than vox engines because that enemy was designed before alexus. Maybe not perfect, but at least you're allowed to play the game with multiple factory striders.

There should be no more than 3 Vox Engines allowed at a time. Even the dragonroach and leviathans weren't spammed to hell at you.

Probably malicious compliance from, AH. "Ok dipshits we gave you a long range disposable fuck you stick w 2 min CD and 25m blast radius. Now stop crying we nerf everything and start grinding our newest mission where we going to spam you so hard with our newest ASSrapeanator-9000 because we know you troglodyte horde shooter enjoyers gonna also 4 man spam the new fuck you stick we just gave you and the solo silo anyway."
