Heroes Rise is a CYOA which got onto Steam a few years ago. Last year I rushed all the way through it with a shit character and failing at every turn, now: I've actually finished with an adequate ending and thoughly read the game, I'm going to give you an opinion.

First of all - it's entirely text-based, there is literally nothing visual about the game except for a few stat bars and your imagination, so those who hate to read will not have fun playing this game.
Secondly - it's about Superheroes. In the spiraling Metropolis city of Millenium City there are a dime a dozen with variety, with those with Infiniti Powers.
Finally, Zachary Sergi - a gay guy from twitter wrote it: he's nothing like Brianna Wu however he has a lot of gay/trans opinions that show up in the Heroes Rise series.

There are three CYOAs which are played in succession: The Prodigy, The Hero Project and HeroFall.

The Prodigy is your origins - you're a man or a woman, the writer doesn't give you a third - or fourth - choice. You can choose your name - I decided to go for female with a default name of "Macie Decter." Hero Project puts you into a stupid reality show about super heroes where you must try and choose the right choices and Herofall is you stopping Hitler The President from killing all the gays superheroes

Thankfully within Heroes Rise you have an orientation setting which can lock you out of a specific romance of either men or women - though one characters gender, Black Magic, is based on your preference, because I chose that I like men Black Magic turned male who you can choose his appearence based on others lik Kayne West (he is one of the default choices.)

Within the game you are given choices, where you need to choose between Fame and Justice or other adgendas within the story - though in the end it boils down to what type of character you wish to play as the game penalties you for being neutral, especially in the 2nd and 3rd game.

In every fight and situation there is a perfect way to do anything which a guide is given to you after you finished so you can create a perfect hero and unlock other goodies through a legendary point system. When you play for the first time you will almost certainly fail one or all your missions, though it is unlikely that you will die due to the game's over-easy fighting system which can be given tips by the game if you fork over 99 cents - there are five micro-transactions within the game, some of which can be bought through completing the game perfectly. In a game you bought.

Over and all the writer has done an alright job, while he is direct and to the point he's less expressive and uses simple and nondescript writing during the entire story. One thing I have noticed is that under the simple tones of super heroism there is an agenda... theres something SJWishy.

So, you'd think that "Heroes" is a based analogy on LBGT rights and their movements, as during the end of the series, right?

Nope, the writer just gives you the flat deal and expresses him opinions on LBGT ideals as a lot of the characters themselves are gay, trans or what ever with some of characters being a "non-gender" who are said to be beautiful in all accounts of both genders and continues to call the character through the pronouns of "xir" and the like.

It also feels very hamfisted as well, like as if that was their entire identity: The Bear, for example, is one of the several gay heroes who wears a pink thong and within one scene confronts you about your opinion on "LBGT(etc.)"

Most characters in Hero Project give sob stories that they're transsexual and obviously the writer feels like it's absolutely necessary to bring it up at any moment possible another example is half way through The Hero Project there is a confrontation between a transexual character, a gay and several other LBGT people where they ask you to settle their differences by saying the last word, often causing confrontations in the final parts of the game.

Honestly the game is alright but the SJW-y stuff in the game makes it less papable and leaves a bad taste in your mouth because it feels like it's something that should of been done in a better way.

Also Black Magic is shit-tier waifu/husbando.

Played it when it was just a mobile game, Choice of Dragon and Choice of Vampire were better.
