I'm fascinated by history but there doesn't seem to be an adequate sub-forum to discuss it in other than this one. In short, for anyhow who finds history as engaging as I do, what historical topics do you find interesting? Things like specific periods, people, events, etc.

For me, I find ancient religions like Zoroastrianism interesting. Other than that, I also dig the 800's CE, when the vikings and the Magyars were a big deal.

I enjoy history about World War II, the Cold War era and the Vietnam War. I enjoy the fact that I was alive to see the end of the Cold War. I can still remember when the Berlin Wall came down.

I read a shit-ton of literature (both autobiographical and fiction) set in the Cultural Revolution in China. It was just such a fascinating and horrifying time.

The classical and medieval eras were really cool

Things I have an autistic level interest in:

1. Medieval England
2. Colonial USA
3. The Dust Bowl
4. USSR during the cold war
5. Victorian Britain
6. Early European history

That one History Paper topic in the Discussion forum made me remember that I have somewhat of a passing interest in WW2.

Granted, I only know very basic stuff like the Holocaust, Pearl Harbor, and the atomic bombs.

Still though, so many things happened during that period.I remember enjoying reading about that period back in High School.

I like the interesting tidbits that are so bizzare you wonder if they are really true. For example, I think it's interesting how mexico had a president that lasted 45 minutes in office.

There were once laws called 'Sumptuary Laws' that dictated what fabrics, colours, and styles of clothing people could wear based on their rank and wealth.

I'm interested in the early days of movies. And the history of mundane things, like silverware and socks and stuff. But I'm odd.

I write about ridiculousness from the 1980s and 1990s. I scour old newspapers and magazines for stupid shit. $20,000 Mary Baldwin History degree being used.

I had this lazy as fuck Civ teacher in 9th grade who made us watch Rocky vs Drago (Rocky V, right?) in class when he farted around with the soccer team.
