How come it's 1984 again? - TL;DR some (mostly common) thoughts about hypocrisy, censorship and control.

I keep seeing that Google/Amazon/Meta/basically every supercorporation is making stupid decisions on whatever it owns. I'm seeing YouTube preventing creators from swearing on it's own videos (10/10 on the stupidity scale), twitch banning creators because they do not like what they see, (11/10 on that same scale), media companies creating LGBT and BLM media to distract from what they're doing to their own content. (Looking at not just Disney) and news companies reporting on hot button issues rather than what really matters.

I also keep seeing the support for marginalized groups of people from those same corporations.

It's like everywhere you go, they keep saying that coopting the movement that gay people before them just by simply becoming gay is cool. They keep saying that injecting melanin inside of you is going to help the struggle of black people. It's not exactly what they're saying but by pressing that we have to make certain groups exotic and uncriticizable, they're distracting from their own hypocritical problems.

I thought these companies supported the movement that you can do or say anything as long as it doesn't involve a swastika, a confederacy flag or any conspiracy theories. Guess I thought wrong.

I find it funny and aggravating that you can't even say anything on YouTube anymore otherwise they affect your livelihood, I also find it funny and aggravating that twitch basically forces creators to go by arbitrary rules just so they can please advertisers. What's worse is that, this is every company nowadays.

I don't think supporting LGBT and BLM is going to make your company any better in the public eye. What's the point of being against Trump if you do a lot of the same shit that Trump does?

Censorship everywhere is pathetic nowadays. They goin' after Null and Kiwi Farms all because they treat the internet as if it's something they gotta keep pure, like we can't hold people accountable or laugh at people because it hurts their feelings and they got a reputation to protect, all while the same people get pissed off over innocent people based off their assumptions yet support the Harvey Weinstein's and R. Kelly's of the internet.

Hypocrisy is everywhere.

The United States of America was built off the dream that you could find your own opportunity while not being oppressed by anybody. Yet we're being laughably oppressed by the likes of powerful influences who have money and clout without really earning the clout. What can I do to avoid this? it's even seeped into real life.

I'm going to end with this since it's getting a bit tl;dr. Why should we erase our own history? why should we be stuck in a pointless culture war and why should we have to have one side be the winner? It used to be okay to be able to make fun of something on the internet, speak your mind on the internet and even have the freedom to do it as afforded by the first amendment but when you can't even swear in public (if you do it in a place like Kiwi Farms then you're suddenly a terrible person according to them) or are forbidden to make anything that affects the advertisers bottom line then what's the point? And why does 4chan still have a Twitter account yet Kiwi Farms don't (I know it's been banned but still)? Freedom should be for everybody, not just one group of people.

Let me know how to make my deep thought (or other) posts less retarted. Can't believe they redline retarted on my web browser, people are so easily offended nowadays.

The core problem I see with all of the recent culture war shit is that I can definitely see that system being very abusable by the powers that be. In my opinion whatever anti-racism, tolerance and emotional safety is gained by imposing everything you mentioned is not worth the price and it's going to bite everyone in the ass, big time. It already has. Perfect allegory for this is all of the "Occupy Wall street"-stuff juxtaposed by Wall street being celebrated by doing whatever pride or blm-stuff is relevant in the [current year]. Holier than thou-aesthetics seem to make these fuckers immune to criticism, which is fucking scary when the fuckers in question are politicians/banks/mega corporations/the media. If they make a big deal of how inclusive they are they can just call racism or whatever on anyone that's calling them out - and that's scary. Especially when surveillance keeps going up and "hate speech"-laws are being forced throughout the western world.

It's because the people with the real money are making the rules. All these major social media sites run at a loss and depend on subsidies to keep their sites operational. That means they need investors to pour money in, but what use is it to them unless they get to dictate what people can and cannot do? We already know that Twitter was getting bankrolled by the FBI because their ad revenue was garbage. Why would these investors be beholden to such concepts as Freedom of Speech or Free Expression when they all have personal agendas they want to push forward through these social media sites?

Didn't Watson (of watson and crick) do a study about this?

Calling something racist in 202X is like calling something blasphemous in 182X. The legitimacy of the current world order is built around their system having defeated Hitler, so anti-racism has been raised up to the status of a religion. But this is relatively new and the system has mostly worked fine for decades, and only the unprecedented events of 2020-onward have caused any real cracks to form in its legitimacy.

We're too stupid to have it any other way. People can't just leave each other the fuck alone. There is always some asshole who thinks they know better and they have to stick their nose up your ass to make sure you're doing what they want.

in the olden days of the interwebby, a load of nerds and stoners created lil communities where, depending on the vibe, you would be accepted, or not accepted. There was a place for everyone -- you just had to look around for your ppl. It was fun, and it was cray but there was a tonne of good shit too. I used to hang around in loads of 'mystical' and 'religious' places, and I had my thoughts examined on the daily. I might get laughed at, I might find some good swag, was all good. And this place, the farm, reminds me of those olden days. But, now we mainly have an interwebby that's ran by corporations, who are just shell companies for the big propagandists -- the FBI/Twitter shit is a case in point. If what you're chatting is pro the propaganda, you can stay. If it isn't, you are doomed.

but, people are fighting back. They want to be able to chat their own brand of shit online, away from the mega-corps who are muting and banning them, and these alts are building up their communities, buying their own servers, and the 'powers that be' can't control everyone, and everything.
