I have had to purchase three $500 self-cleaning litter boxes because my new kitten who is about a year old eats all the food and shits like crazy and burns the motor out

Litter liner gets in the claws1. litter liner
2. scoop everyday to once every two days
3. change the liner once a week
you paid $500 to essentially make the easiest chore in the world way more difficult
It all comes down to what kind of cat you have.Litter liner gets in the claws
funnily enough one of my cats absolutely destroys the sides of the liners. he doesn't cover his poop or anything, he just uses it as a scratching post while he does his business. it does cause tearing but it's always so high on the liner it rarely ever causes issues taking it out and putting it into a garbage bag. he has no issues with his claws or anything but I can see it being a case to case basis issueIt all comes down to what kind of cat you have.
Some of them dig to China. Some of them think everything is fine as long as all their feet are in the box, and consequently pee over the side of it. Some of them are normal until they're done pooping, and then rocket out of the box 3 feet horizontally in a small cloud of litter.
Clearly @Gaddafi 's cats aren't deep diggers, so liners work for him.
