After the 4cuck hack I thought I would be free, meeting new people, touching grass, getting a job, but instead I just ended up here, is this place good for self-improvement? I want to stop being online, but everyone around me only uses normalfag social media platforms to communicate and nobody is interested in talking about things I like in person, all my interests are trapped in gay discord servers. I know the internet is an important tool for society today, but I think is doing more harm than good (for myself, at least). I don’t want to become a Ted Kaczynski lunatic either, going to the woods and living in a cabin by myself alone, without contact from the terminally online world. Any suggestions?

I'd start using your phone only as a utility item. No social media apps, streaming, discord, etc. Others might suggest "dumbphones" but imo, while nice in theory, are a little impractical since some restaurants require you to scan a QR code for the menu and other similar dumb shit but if the internet is only something you have to physically sit down at a designated spot to access that alone cuts down on the time you're engaged with it. You don't need to be plugged into everything waiting in line at the store, on the bus, on the toilet, or whatever daily idle time you might have. Books are nice but during those times it can be really helpful to just sit with nothing. Try going on walks with no music or anything and just have some time to think by yourself, it really can clear your head.

Of course not, in general. There are interesting threads for programming, art, exercise, etc, but mostly is just people shitposting, laughing at people who are like them, and sometimes getting into slapfights over political stuff.

So you need to use the appropriate threads for improvement, and avoid the very abundant stupid shit that's on here.

Also, depends on what your interest are, which we don't know about, but I'm sure there are people in here who can talk with you about it.

You can't do it entirely since a lot of things these days are only done online.
That being said, you can do something.
Delete every account on every website that isn't necessary, get a phone that isn't a smartphone so that you can't go online all the time.
That will make it more of a hassle to go online just to waste time and you will fill it up in other ways eventually.

I would advise against the dumb phone route for purely practical purposes that have nothing to do with the techified modern world. I happily live in a rural backwater that doesn't have an QR or other tech bullshit and my latest dumb phone has failed spectacularly. My old one was kinda shitty, but fine and I was forced to upgrade to one with 4G because they phased out 3G in my area. I couldn't try the phone I wanted in the store and when I got it, it's a flip phone that runs some shitty version of android. It's not truly dumb. So not only does it run as slow or slower than my old dumb phone, but I'm assuming google trannies are still able to listen and read everything I say.

I don't know if there are any truly dumb phones anymore and if there are I can't use them because I'm a dumb redneck who needs those waterproof and impact rated ones or I'll break multiple phones a year.

Leaving your phone in black and white mode makes it less interesting for monkey brain.
Also you can't just stop doing things without something else to fill that space. Get books.

Just find a productive hobby. You'll be more satisfied with life if you're learning/making things in your spare time. Whatever your interests are, there's almost definitely some way of applying those interests to something productive.

Once you have a hobby, you'll stop doomscrolling as much knowing that you could easily be doing something better with your time.

Nigga just walk away from the screen, like nigga close your eyes . . . That is until you need to do absolutely anything financial or technical, in which case, nigga, you will absolutely have to open your eyes to the screen.

What are your hobbies and interests?
Rom hacking and drawing, I want to make a video game but most of the people I have talked to don’t seem very mentally stable and are introverts who don’t like meeting in person, I could make a game alone but it would take a lot of time and it would be frustrating without the help of someone, I wouldn’t have fun making it. Also, I’m learning how to code.
Every lolcow catalogued in this site is a perfect example of not improving and falling face first into terrible habits and actitudes, if you lurk long enough you will realize the patterns in their behavior and hopefully avoid them so that way you don't end up like them.
Yeah, I realized that a lot of people who use the farms have their own threads here, some people really can’t resist the urge to post about their personal life or talk about their weird fucked up fetishes and shit nobody cares about really.

I might visit the gardening thread and start learning how to plant my own veggies.

Yeah those are pretty solitary hobbies, and dependant on the internet. Gardening is something I'm trying to get into too, if you go to a local plant nursery or something there's usually people more than willing to infodump on a newbie. Fishing might be another hobby to look into if you want something thats grass touching and has people willing to talk in person. You might find that it makes you enjoy your internet dependent hobbies more too, for days when you can't or don't feel like going outside. Balance is key.
