I can sing in key but I have a fairly limited range. I find it hard to sing songs in D, E or F. The range ends up being either too high for me to hit or too low. I find singing in the key of B to be the easiest.

Wouldn't the key be entirely dependent upon what song you're singing?

Good enough to entertain drunk people on karaoke night at a bar, nothing special though.

Yes. So i'm better at singing some songs than others depending on the key the song is in.

Two different songs could have a high note of B3 and a low note of B2 and one could be in the key of B and the other F#. In terms of range, one song would be no more demanding than the other. Furthermore, any given song in the keys of D, E or F could be compromised only of notes that fall within the parameters of B3 and B2, thus demanding even less of your voice than our hypothetical song in the key of B.

Yeah I was being general because it was the middle of the night and I was at work and i'm tired. I was just thinking of songs I know and what keys they're in and when I start to struggle. I can sing pretty comfortably the notes between C4 and A2 but lower than that and my voice sounds kind of dumb and higher than that I start to crack.

Neil Young impressions are the best I can do. Anything more masculine than Neil's wimpy tenor and I'm done.

Sometimes surprise myself with how good I am. I have literally couple of times recorded it just to see if I am imagining it. But no, when I feel it is good, it is.

Not that good in a way. If it is song that has strong melody that I can summon from backbone it is good. But no way I pull it off on demand. I assume with actual practice I could be a singer. My theory is, if person can whistle, person can sing, because it does show they can tell differences of notes.

I'm like Roger Waters, I have an extremely wide range but I'm not great at hitting notes. If I sing a song enough times to be comfortable with it, I can sound decent.
