To @Vitriol , my first ever e-butt buddy.
To @Valiant , for her robotic support.

Hello everyone,

As you know, I am a connoisseur of the deep thoughts forum, and love to make you all rage with my very blatant opinions and thoughts. We should just rename the forum and call it "[HALAL] Creator" probably.

But jokes aside, I think it's time we have a thread discussing the proper form of "Debate". I have seen thread after thread go from polite discourse, to suddenly people having hissy fits because someone brings up a point that hurts their fee fees, or the person is trying to bait, and people fall for it like retards. I'm not naming anyone, and I have personally have fallen in this regard many times-- which is why I have decided to create this very informative, very autistic thread on how one should talk when debating.

To do this, I will post a demonstration on the most caustic place one can have any type of discourse/debate: facebook lolcows.

I did the following: I posited a controversial thought (this was a right wing forum area for reference), and then said my case. The end game of all of this: not to get mad/sperg because people disagree with me. Of course, there is a problem with this: I came in knowing I would do this, so my mentality was a little bit more fortified than if I were to discuss something without any sort of real planning.

Anyway, here are the comments-- with power words and pictures censored out.

So what is the point of all of this besides me making people mad on the internet? Was this the best medium to covey these points that you are trying to discuss? To answer: there are probably better examples than, but I feel it gets my point across, as we will now.

The most obvious point I believe is that you should never debate on facebook, lol.

The second most obvious is that you should not act like these people when a controversial topic is given to you. And guess what folks? I have seen many a post where a few of you people DO act like this. Regardless of your viewpoint on the subject in the pictures, this is the point I'm making: do not act like these people. Passion and being mad on the online is a wonderful mixture for creating shallow thoughts, autism, and making your fee fees hurt even more. No matter the subject, always try to act civil.

The third case is that if you bring a controversial subject up, you should be ready to defend it. I know we both agree that people should be civil, but it is very hard to keep a calm demeanour when you are given something "different"-- as it is, us humans do not like change, as seen with people acting like spergs when @Null changes the forum ever so slightly. I don't believe my facebook posts were the most cordial and perfect displays of how to act calm and present your argument clearly, but they sure did their goddam best. In either case, you must not let your anger get the best of you, and never EVER FUCKING EVER start doing ad hominem (personal insults) to the people acting like retards to you. That just puts you at their level, and that is something you should never subject yourself to unless you're a :epik:

The fourth, and this one is more implicit, is that no subject in deep thoughts will be censored unless it's obvious baiting, and being a retard. No matter how retarded the concept may be to you, a subject should never be censored if it has any sort of worth. Just learn to chew it out like an adult, and try to see the other side of the argument; it will make you a better person, I can assure you.

The fifth is that I think these posts were just funny in my opinion. They show how us humans can be really illogical on either side of the argument, and just goes to show that all humans are indeed lolcows, just waiting to be [HALAL]'d

So the point out of this long post that is basically useless: PLEASE FUCKING PLEASE learn to calm your emotions on the online and think deeply. This subforum does not need to be a gulag of moderation-- that only happens because people are not controlling their emotions, and not doing what the subforum states: thinking deeply.

tl;dr: Learn to calm your emotions, and try to discuss the stuff that is opposite of your view without getting mad. likewise, when bringing up controversial stuff, be smart and discuss your points clearly. It requires effort, but will reward you in loads of informative ratings.

Please stand by: this thread is going through a schizophrenic break and is slowly being edited for any type of idiocy, and any type of information that could be useful.

EDIT: if anyone is interested, that debate is still going on with people, and people are getting really mad now lol.

Also why is this thread even needed? Kiwis are super cool and calm in every situation.

We need a thread on how to be an insane, raging asshole in even the calmest of debates.

I'll make the counterpoint of this thread in inner circle just for you.

I think the important thing about participating in a debate is to not attack the person but rather criticize their ideas. You also need to think of yourself as not being defined by your ideas so you should think about your other accomplishments before a debate

Why? Where's the fun in that?

The important thing in any debate is to have fun, and that means pissing off everyone else involved as much as possible, and then laughing at them when they get mad.

The fun part is to use good arguments and then get them to chimp out because of it like I did in the arranged marriages thread

They have to really chimp, though.

Look at how Socrates did it. He literally forced them to kill him for exercising free speech when his argument was that their ideas of free speech were bullshit.

Not many trolls these days have the balls to literally force the authorities to kill them.

This post didn't need to be written. If someone's the kind of person who is susceptible to getting buttangry about dumb shit online, then they've already failed at the internet and embarrassed themselves and they need to be laughed at and probably won't read this anyway, and if they're not retarded then they already know this and don't have to read it.

Anyone who takes the Deep Thoughts section seriously enough to get angry at anyone or anything in it is an autohalal.

@AnOminous I need to PM you a list of names of AutoHALAL now.

I'm also going to question the very basis of this thread.

Why be civil?

Why is that even a good thing?

Good idea.

Maybe we should actually from here on out debate whether there is a need for civility and that discourse should be rough and tumble. And those that cannot take it are not meant for the pristine lands known as having a higher IQ than your pet Chiuahaha.

In fact, let's go for the counterpoint of this all: what happens if debate does not have any flavor whatsoever, an is just bland asspatting? Maybe it is indeed important that we have and some edge and spice to our words.

You should have just called me a fucking idiot and suggested ways of killing me.
