This seems spergy but I absolutely love slot machines. Unfortunately, they end up costing a lot of money. I don’t care about gambling, I just want to play slots, preferably on a real machine.

Is it possible to rent or even buy a slot machine for my own personal use? If so, what would Kiwis recommend?

Legality of personal slot machines depends on the state apparently, assuming you're in the USA of course. Beyond that there seems to be a couple reputable retailers for slot machines whose merchandise appears to usually be in the four digit range.
That’s actually a lot cheaper than I expected.

How’s maintenance on an older machine? If the reel goes out, is it viable to repair?

The ones I see in that link are digital and exist on a screen. My original suggestion for a mechanical one would be to give it a kick. It's normally frowned upon but as the owner of the machine you can do whatever you want!

Ah yeah, the electronic screens are probably more reliable. Thanks for the help. I think I know what I’ll be getting myself for Christmas😈

Electronic screens suck though! You can probably get something older for cheap and grease up the mechanisms. Then kick it OR and this is a pro-tip: hit it with a book!

depending how good you are with your hands, you could buy a broken one and restore it
