This is a major talking point for redditniggers and twittards, that 80% of the homophobia in the world is due to white christians. India turns down marriage equality bill and Jamrock upholds sodomy law? British era colonial mindset lingering around. African countries outlaw homosexuality? Christian missionaries. Gay marriage is still banned in Red Indian reservations? Because they adopted cultural mores of European settlers. Japan, China and South Korea have homophobic laws? It's because U.S and Europe's influence.

They may have had a lot of involvement in it, but am I really to believe the world was a paradise for fags and trannies before Europeans came along.

I'd say it's probably Christianity more than white people. After all, whites were packing fudge way back in the classical era.

Depends where you're talking about. Like in Native American cultures and on Pacific islands, there were people we'd call transsexuals (biological men who wore women's clothes and took female roles in society), but that was because their culture had no concept of "homosexuality" so if a dude liked dudes and took it up the ass, he was "obviously" a woman. But the fact remains that it was always something rare and often frowned upon, and also often punished, sometimes with death.
