How would you argue against raising the age of consent?

If someone came from a community or society where the age of consent is 21, all porn must be of people 21 or older, etc and called you all pedophiles for living in a country where you can look at porn of 18 year olds, how would you argue the age of consent should be 18 and not 21, or 24, higher?

Or say you went to a country where the age of consent was 21, how would you argue that theirs is too high and its fine if it was lowered

Not like that kind of thing doesn't already happen... here in the states there are people that already have that kind of argument considering that some states are 18 while others are 16, and the 16 states get looked down since it's considered jailbait at that age for majority of society.

Let's think about what the age of consent really means. It is the age at which we, as a society, have agreed that one is able to consent to sex. Well no shit.
Let's compare this to contract law:
In this context, you have to be a certain age to enter a binding contract.

In a certain sense, a proposition for sex is a contract of sorts. "Let me play with your toys if I let you play with mine." With that understood, anyone who is legally allowed to enter into a binding contract should be allowed to consent to sex. If your society deems 21 as the age of legal agency, then fair enough. But otherwise the age of consent should be18 or lower (given that most civilized countries consider 18 the age where contracts are legally valid).

Personally, I'd be in favor of lowering the drinking age and the ability to legally buy a handgun to 18 since you can vote, join the military, and consent to sex at 18. Anything lower than 18 is just skeevy though.

But if you're arguing for raising the age of consent from 18 to 21, the only way I can see it is if it's specific to sex work. Like, you can have sex at 18 on your own free time but you have to be 21 to do porn or anything similar.

I agree with raising it to 21, allows the brain to develop a little bit further. Eighteen year olds that jump straight into porn and develop no real life skills are doing themselves far more harm than good
