I have a cold and feel sick. Can you help me?

Fluids, rest, try to eat a regular diet even if you don't feel like it, multivitamin. The only reason I suggest a multivitamin is that you can use the extra zinc as it can act against viral replication and help replenish other antioxidants that your body is readily using up as part of its battle against the virus. Tea can be helpful as it is hydrating, and the mild amount of caffeine can act as a mild anticongestant as well as helping with fatigue. Some extra fruits and vegetables aren't a bad idea, but that is just good advice in general, most people don't get nearly enough of them.

Avoid most OTC stuff, if you can. Try to avoid Tylenol since the inflammatory response from your body is helpful in fighting a minor virus. If you develop a fever that exceeds 102 °F, take tylenol at that point. Any fever 102 or above is generally no longer beneficial to fighting the virus and is just going to make you miserable. If you have a fever of 102 or higher for 24 hours or longer, seek medical attention since this would no longer be a cold, as a minor cold virus doesn't cause a prolonged fever. Try to avoid Benadryl or other 1st generation antihistamines. Taking it disables a part of your immune system that is helpful, while making you more tired, and they can dry out several mucosal surfaces due to their anticholinergic effect, which can actually make your symptoms worse. I'd avoid any decongestants, while they may help temporarily one can run the risk of several unusual adverse effects, including cardiac arrythmia, hypertensive crisis (and all the risks that entails) and it interacts with a number of other medications, if you take any regularly.

If your nose is closed up, you can use nasal oxymetazoline, as mouth breathing is not good for your upper airway and causes mucosal drying. It's also well established fact that breathing through your mouth while sleeping has a detrimental impact on the quality of sleep one gets. Don't exceed the dosing on the packaging/bottle as you can get a rebound effect where it will actually make your nose close up even more and not respond to the spray. If you have trouble sleeping, you can take melatonin, as it has been shown to promote better sleep quality without adversely impacting the recovery process related to viral illness.

Feel better.

I love how Kiwifarms responses can range from serious, thoughtful advice that incorporates terms like 'anticholinergic', to fun, helpful advice, like "kill yourself nigger".

Any other forum, and we'd get nothing but unironic sperging about how OP is probably spreading covid.

Lick some raw chicken, then when you're on the johnson for food poison you won't have time to complain about a wee sniffle.

Put some Vic's on, lay under a pile of blankets, and get some nice warm tea with lemon.

I can also recommend to go outside and shake as many of the elderly hands as possible. If you can overcome my record 54 in a single afternoon, I will send feet pics.
