Say you have a kid, and they're autistic. High functioning, pretty damn normal, so you have another. And they're autistic. A little less functional, this time. How many more do you have?

A follow up morality question for bonus points: Is it right to keep giving birth when you know the odds of eventually having a screaming potato are much higher for you?

This is not a maths question. All you can do is attempt to speculate with statistics, but there are so many variables, and you had such a few amount of results, that the question pertains more to biology & genetics. Whatever conclusion you get solely from statistics (just with the info you provided) will be an illusion & hardly worth considering.

In other words, would be better to determine if there is an increased possibility for you to have kids in such unfavourable state by actually analyzing your body/genetics (which is one of the root causes for that to happen), not with your random 2 samples, which are not very telling; your next kids could be easily perfectly normal, we don't know.

In regards to morality, it is subjective, but my opinion is that it is selfish if there is a substantial possibility of that happening, it will just bring suffering.
And it really is painful, to know that your parents were selfish and that's why you're in pain, but there are several degrees to this.

Made a thread about a similar thing, but have to say that overall, Kiwifarmers here are pro-having that baby, yet I'm personally not convinced. I know how painful it can be for your parents to be careless/selfish/assholes.

How many more do you have?
None. At least not naturally.

I don't even see it as a question of morality. I see it as a life decision.

You can only gamble so many times and win. If you know the risk is high, don't take it. Because the toll is just not worth it.

It will break you heart every single fucking day to have a grown adult that is uncontrollable. It will ruin you financially. It will ruin your relationship. It will ruin your other kids' upbringing.

I don't care if it's morale or not, I think it's just irresponsible.

ETA; should have read the thread before posting. Sorry, not funny.

I think you keep going till you don't have an autistic kid. Then you have a few more kids to see what happens when you go past that point. Do they become extra normal?

Edit: I'm realizing I read this as if it was going in reverse and they were getting less autistic.

The truth can be funny when people flaunt life so willy-nilly.

What's your drive for having more babies? Because you want, even though you know there is a higher chance that it will jeopardize their lives?

Pray to whoever you believe in that your child is born without such negative traits, or there is a good chance (if there actually is) for them to see you as stupid and selfish, but hey, maybe not!

That last remark is what you'll cling onto, so now it's russian roulette time for the baby. Have fun I guess.
