I honestly getting tired of (real) internet censorship and shadowbanning

And I don't mean getting banned from some website or from making youtube videos for posting deliberately racist content or speaking out about trannies using women's bathrooms or anything of that nature.

I'm talking about the more frightening kind of censorhip. People and even some journalists are having their articles and content taken down just for posting something that the bigwig's don't like. And I don't mean ''Muh racism'' or ''anti vax'' stuff but more genuine things and even expose's on how companies are treating employee's poorly. This type of censorhip has only been happening in the last little while, there was a time when things were allowed to get out more freely without nearly this amount of deliberate blocking.

Speaking of Covid, at the start of the pandemic there were virologists making video's on youtube suggesting covid could become airborne indoors (especially within crowded settings like on airplanes). Many of these people reported they had their video's removed after talking about this or were some how shadowbanned. In Canada, if someone, usually a journalist, write's an article about Chinese money laundering in Canadian real estate that article tends to disappear. You can't post much about this on the Canadian subreddit's (for example) without getting a prompt ban either.

Exactly what is going on here? also why has this become a bigger thing in the last five years. This is actually very frightening as people are actively suppressing online exchanges of information and opinions that used to be allowed to stay up.

Man how new are you? I'm only asking so I can give you the right response. Just about everyone with two neurons to rub together saw this coming over a decade ago.

As soon as 'people' pushed for the removal of online anonimity, this was the next step.

"Bigdongschlong68 called me fat , it's not fair that he can hide behind an anonymous screen name"
Soon became
"Stop Johnny Fredrickson from posting on reddit that he doesn't like fat people, punish him in real life".

What should have happened was telling the people who didn't like what they read, to stay the fuck off of the internet.

We're all tired of that. Honestly kiwifarms has become like a less retarded version of what Reddit should be. It's one of the few places in the internet that still remembers the old days. Sure you have 4chan but Pol is spammed between bunkerchan, and probably correct the record shills who spend all day posting US/EU/UK propaganda.

It's just that news media used to be the one with the bias (tv and print), internet media and social networking sites genuinely had freedom of ideas. You could post any opinion you had in a youtube video and it would never be taken down.

Think about all those sandy hook video's years ago, were those people ass holes who said it was all a hoax? you bet. But those video's were still allowed to stay up for years and years because back then people were allowed to post content about almost anything with little interference.

Something else I read recently that disturbed me. The teenage ap ''TikTok'' shadow ban's disabled people's video's

Jesus fucking christ. How low can they go?

Yeah because randomly starting a thread on this topic, with that kind of title, and acting like everyone here doesn't know about this or even know what TikTok is totally isn't fucking suspicious at all.

I have no idea what you're here to shill or what outfit you work for, but you had better fuck off.

The real infuriating thing is seeing this rule being applied inconsistently, that """journalists""" (typically journalist-activists) that toe the party line get their "edgy" work stuffed in front of everyone's faces, while real journalists, some of whom are actually reporting on the ground, end up being marginalized.

Fundamentally, I think people are right to say that the institutions are rotten and a new media ecosystem is needed along with a supporting financial system, as you are not going to win if the enemy also controls the home turf.

First they came for the women who complained about troons in the bathroom ...

This is how things got so bad. Nobody gave a shit when it was people they didn't like or issues they didn't care about being censored. Now that it is biting you in the ass, you suddenly care.

They can write up to high heaven about WOKE, Racism and the other latest buzzwords but when it comes to more serious issues where they're uncovering a bad truth they're muzzled. This usually happens when their report affects a multinational company etc. We're lucky we heard about the horror stories in the Amazon factories, that only came out due to workers speaking up about how they weren't getting paid for a months work in many cases, horrible conditions, poor work safety and no covid measures.

The media even through the pandemic was trying to portray amazon as a ''good place to work'' and ''safe''. What a laugh.

Because it moved up the line so fast. Censorship on the internet was portrayed as something that was going to ''protect'' the vulnerable (the poor, poor LGBT's). But instead it's being used as a way to limit any undesirable content and undesirable people (see the TIKTOK article snippet I posted above). The LGBT's they're supposedly trying to protect are ironically not even allowed on certain platforms without them getting a shadowban.

Before it was the right wing getting banned and she bought the line that they broke the TOS like the service claimed, so she was happy about it.

People warned it would reach the lefties, but they were being irresponsible about it as usual.

Like the very recently former president of the US got thrown of social media and she still didn't notice lmao, but now that some poor lgbtquerino's are getting shadowbanned it's a problem lel.
