If you didn't play sports as a kid, is it too late to start?

So IMO, when you become an adult playing or being part of a "sport" sport is normally less about getting in shape and more about staying in shape. With the sport essentially being a more engaging cardio replacement for running/walking on a treadmill. Not saying that there aren't people who it hasn't worked really well for, just that normally the main reason people play sports as an adult is because it's fun and they want to do it because it's fun. So I'd suggest if your looking to play something in your free time, you do it primarily because you want have fun doing it, with the added bonus of some healthy exercise.

Welcome to the Kiwi Farms nigger.

Of course it's not too late you sportsless weenie, there are people decades older than you who pick up sports. You aren't even so old that you have to start worrying about injuries if you play contact sports.

If you aren't in school there are loads of local teams and community sports things that are usually casual and looking for players (tbh I don't know how they organize, maybe through social media, but people do it). Pickle ball is really popular for some reason now, gyms sometimes hold tournaments that literal 70 year olds can enter and perform well at. Soccer, softball, volleyball, frisbee is pretty cool, all sorts of things adults play and have teams for. If you're actually in college there are probably a bunch of clubs that play at your school if you look into it.

Point is, people keep doing sports at pretty much any age. Just look into it; I can't tell you exactly how to find them, but they definitely exist.

Anyone can run or lift. There are plenty of couch to 5k programs online if you want to go down that route, or you can start lifting and work toward hitting 1/2/3/4.
He's already never played sports and he's posting on an internet forum, don't encourage him to become more of an antisocial misfit by hiding in a dank basement alone lifting weights.

Don't listen to him, lifting alone in a dark basement is the only way to become a master wizard. Sure you could just wait until you hit wizard age at 30 but it's best you have maxed out a magical skill like earth bending or sentient-rock maintenance by then. But the only sure way to do that is alone in a dark basement for a decade.

I'm going to go from a fat, antisocial misfit to a ripped, slightly social misfit.

Thanks, homie. I just get so caught up in the age stuff. When I was younger, I thought 18 would be great; now I'm afraid the doors are closing. High school is over, and I just feel a sense of despair.
What is your goal though?
Just to look like your profile pic or to actually be fit?

to be fit like an athletic kind of build
Well, as someone who has been training since age 5, let me explain something.
There is a huge difference between aesthetic muscles and functional muscles.

A lot of the biggest most ripped dudes out there aren't actually fit.
They can lift heavy things and then put them down but they're not actually fit.
They're slow, they have low mobility, low agility, they run out of breath after running half a mile.
A great looking torso with big pecs and well defined abs, that shit is completely useless, it just looks good.

If you want to be a proper athlete, you should focus on functionality, not looks, actually doing physical activities.
If you just want to be a bodybuilder, that's really easy, it just takes a lot of time and you won't actually be fit, you will just look good.

Ok, so what kind of workouts and diet should I do to be athletic? I would rather be a sort of less ripped but athletic person than a big, jacked meathead who can't run to save his life.

Imagine being such a gaping pussy you need to blog post on a Korean Donkey Shitting website to embolden you to do what you want to do.

Grow a pair, faggot.

Double skull crushers and eat deez nutz 5 times a day.

I know crossfit has a bad reputation but for an all round fitness, I think it's really good.
Just make sure you study the proper technique, there's plenty of material online and some of it isn't that good.
Look for people who have been doing it for a long time and haven't injured themselves into oblivion.

If you're not a fan of that, those Ninja Warrior obstacle courses are great as well.
If you live in a city, try looking for a venue.

I also recommend martial arts, one of the ones that actually work like kickboxing.
You get fit and you get the added bonus of being able to defend yourself against assholes.

Last thing, you can also try dancing.
Dumb people will laugh at it but you get fit, you learn cool shit and you meet really hot women.
What's not to love?

It's like starting a business and saying "Oh no, I don't want to turn this into a multimillion dollar business, that will be too much responsibility".

Being a big jacked meathead takes years of workouts, motivation and planned nutrition schedules (and usually steroids). Also, if you stop working out, you stop being that.

Just take a lesson for like 5 different sports and see what you like. If you find something you like, you'll stick with it easier. If you stick with it, it will pay more dividends. It doesn't really matter what sport you do now, the most important thing is that you get fucking moving, don't try to overdo it immediately and just get used to what it's like being active without injuring yourself.
