I have noticed of late that posts in the Community Happenings thread are starting to become longer and increasing detailed. These types of posts are low effort, don't encourage engagement, and go against the format Null specified.

Mods should enforce a standard where a post cannot be longer than several sentences. If you cannot effectively communicate the happening in several sentences, you should go take English classes.

That guy is a sperg. 99% of posts in the community happenings thread are a fraction that length.

edit: OP keeps changing his shit. This is the post he was referencing
In fairness those posts are a bit ‘tistic, so I see where OP is coming from. That being said I don’t think that enough is wrong with those posts to delete them over or change the rules. Yeah the constant updates over every minor detail in that case gets a bit tiring, but they don’t seem to violate the rules and there are some people who seem to find them informative.

The length of the post shouldn't be a problem so long as it's clear and easy to understand, which the...Child Torture post was given it was a lot of unpalatable information to impart. And obviously what we deem significant is a matter of context and taste.

I do have issues with some posts (including, surprisingly, a few recent ones from notorietus) being so shoddily written they're near incomprehensible.

If there's a community happenings post I start reading that I lose interest in—get this—I stop reading and then scroll to the next post. Crazy, I know.

I just keep mine short, sweet and to the point out of personal preference. I just don't read the ones that don't interest me

I agree with the OP. I've always thought of that thread as a signpost, directing people to _other_ threads/comments with all the information. Give users enough to decide if they want to read more and leave it at that.
Assaulting everyone else with a wall of text and pictures/videos defeats the point. Why link to the thread if you've already reposted it to the happenings thread?

There is no subject in all of human endeavour that requires that much text to summarize
