Off the top of my head is Larry Clark and his fascination with poor, drug addicted, sexualized teenagers.

I have given a name to my pain. And it is "BREEN."

Also, now thinking of the man whose movie I'm paraphrasing... Tim Burton. I could go on a tirade, but there's a six-year video that does it better than I could.

Im pretty sure that Wes Anderson has been making the same "quirky indie movie" since 1996.

The main character is usually a self-insert of Woody Allen. It's usually a somewhat distorted self-insert, though, because it's never been an outright child molester.
