It's pretty annoying hearing some variation of "federal informant" endlessly parroted every single time a politicow or other fringe weirdo so much as sneezes. It's like an entire (extremely online) generation just learned what role a CI or cooperating witness plays, but failed to learn literally anything else about law enforcement (to be fair, the feds don't exactly publicize their SOP, but there is information to be gleaned from writings by former agents and criminals that got busted).
Less forgiveable than not knowing exactly what methods the FBI uses and how frequently however, is not contextualizing, thinking, or providing evidence and just shitting "GLOWIE" onto everyone's screen every time you have nothing better to say. It's fucking annoying and becomes a sort of self-perpetuating pseudo-psyop, where everyone is probably a fed all the time unless they're not (maybe?). It's about as dumb as eternal gay prison rape jokes, but involves a much more serious real world dynamic that doesn't need to be further obfuscated by constant speculation/misinformation.
How many federal agents do people even think there are? Do you really believe that the FBI doesn't have at least some bigger criminals to target, as opposed to endless literal nobodies who couldn't run a racket if their lives depended on it? It's likely that only the loudest, dumbest, unluckiest, and most criminally-minded spergs attract even the attention of the feds, never mind a time-consuming and expensive investigation or sting.
