I enjoy watching documentaries and learning, no matter the subject. From documentaries on the Westernization of Russia from their Muscovic middle ages to how hot dogs are made, I'll find myself sitting down and watching a documentary or two on my free time. I used to watch the Discovery Channel and History Channel to get my fix of documentaries and informational television, but now those channels have gone to shit. Current day I watch independent documentaries on YouTube, and Curiosity Stream seems to be one of the ones they keep on getting sponsored by.

For 20$ a year I'm curious if anyone has ever used the service. How are the documentaries and TV shows?

I'm curious too. I assumed they'd have the same stuff as YouTube only without ads. Probably worth it just for that alone.

I would love to know about this too. Thanks, OP.

I mean it's only 20$ (currently 15$ while on sale), so I honestly may pay for it just to try it since that won't bankrupt me. Just curious if anyone has tried it before I bite the bullet.

If there hasn't been a response from someone who tried it in a few days, I'll get a subscription myself and let you guys know.

A teacher friend has it, and this is my review: they expect a chunk of customers will be on phones, so the streaming quality is low bitrate and kinda blocky at higher resolutions, but I think there's a membership plan for HQ. A lot of the content is more C-list Discovery/Animal Planet specials, indie stuff by college kids with a RED, and state-sponsored more than anything at the level of what you'd hear David Attenborough narrating, as other platforms called dibs on the good stuff. What most lack in production value, they make it up with weird niche subjects, like "We interview the mad lads who trek across Antarctica and fuck the planning up", or "Lets learn about primate sexuality by watching a pack of chimpanzees rape and murder another pack"

There's full-length stuff and quickie 10-ish minute stuff, so if you're the type who wants edutainment in your downtime, entertain non-brainlets once in a while, and won't mind the fact this isn't gonna have Blue Planet and friends available, it might be fun

I suppose you could say we're all curious about Curiosity Stream.
