Is Deus Vult still valid in this day and age?

As we go into battle on our streets and in the sandy, barren middle east. Is the concept that a (christian) God Wills It a valid theory?

No, and it isn't really a theory anyway.

However, ideas like that are powerful motivators if you are convincing people to do dumb shit like throw their lives away in some godforsaken shithole.

Whenever the west rallies with the support of Christianity in the modern world, it does so with explicitly secular goals. I'd say Deus Vult doesn't really exist in the modern christian world.

I don't know about crusading or the Latin but 'God willing' is a common phrase amongst hebridean Christians here and they often end letters with DV.

I recall hearing something on NPR about the pitfalls of translating the words instead of the meaning, relating to contractors in derkaderkastan and how they'd be told "Inshallah" means "if god wills it", not really being told how the business end of the idiom would end up more like "god had better will it because my lazy ass ain't doing shit".

We are long overdue for another crusade. So Gott mitt uns, Deus vult, Dieu et mon droit, we will need it all in the coming years.

As we fight ISIS and the other Muslims, we will only be victorious through the grace of God. So I would say, yes indeed.

If it really comes down to an all out war, our victory will likely be because we have nuclear weapons and they're medieval savages.

So perhaps if that God is Shiva the Destroyer of Worlds.

I wish I could answer "yes".
The reality is that our sissified society would look down on an all out action against islamists.

Our society never stopped cradling the "noble savage" stereotype and whereas the "noble savages" of yesteryear were the natives or the islanders, the "noble savages" of today are 'revolutionary' sandpeople.

The engagement of the West in the Middle East has no religious motivation. That's not Deep Thoughts, that's complete bullshit.
